i'm sorry but lerks need changing; they fly as if they have no wings and just use farting to get around. they actually fly more like the jetpacks are meant to but with pulsating thrust, so when this is all fixed those people whining about having become expert lerks will probably be expert jetpackers now intead.

Flayra please change these things quickly before they become so entrenched that people will death-threaten you if you change them and then NS will forever be stuck with things like bunny-hopping and concussion gliding in TFC.

Sorry I only read the first page, but here are my thoughts on lerk flight:

Lerk flight is okay at the moment, but it does really function like a jetpack with glide capability. The thing that bothers me about Lerks is that they don't seem like birds at all. I know they're not really birds, but they're the closest thing in NS to them and yet they lack all the panache of a bird.

Birds are quick and agile. That's what I feel a lerk should be quick, but maneuverable. All at the cost of fragileness, which is why they have the least health and not much armor.

Anyway, my suggestions on lerk flight changes would be:

    1) More momentum control. Even if that means you are always more or less flying in the direction you are facing. Flying down a corridor and making a quick 90 degree turn should be easy not nearly impossible.

    2) A flap command that maintains altitude.

    3) Hover is automatic unless disabled (maybe instead of holding jump to hover its on until you press duck)

    Automatic hovering *shrugs*

One thing you got to remember these things fly but much different than birds. They less fit for flying as they adapted to fighting. They quite bulky. The only thing i want to see if the ability to dive or drop. or hand on ceilings like someone said. thata sounds coo too.

all that needs to be done to the lerk is that first the thrust direction should be affected by your pitch. second, air friction should be simulated and there should be a smaller friction coefficient for forward backward movement than up down left right movement. this will enable you to dive, glide, turn corners etc. you can just look where you wanna go and you'll basically head toward that direction although with a little bit of sliding sideways of course.
