So, anyone know of any marine upgrades? Other then the electirc TF, that is. I know the testing hasn't even begun yet, but surely if they're able to think and almost implement so many alien changes, they'd be able to do a little more with marines by now...

    Remember that 1.1 is all about game balance. Not one race will have more than the other race. From the possible changes made in 1.1, I'd say the release of 1.1 will be a joyous day for all us NS players!

    That's for convenience purposes, i don't see how that will 'help' on the field all that much.

    And no Bitterness, i don't even play CS anymore. *sigh* Why do you have to be such a fool? I asked a simple question, I don't expect to get flamed for it. Jeez, can't you people be more like the people who actually play the game, they're actually NICE and dont's insult people for no damn reason.

    The fact the comm get's better support. Hotgroups, player names, the handy WC3 idle peons, better hotkey support etc will speed up the comm's reaction in the heat of battle and will alone improve the marines affectiveness against the aliens...

    The comm makes the team, therefore ergo and furthermore...comm upgrades = marine upgrades. If you're comm can more effectively handle tasking of soldiers, you will be a better team. If you play on servers where everyone's a rambo then no, you won't see the benefit of comm upgrades. And if you hadn't noticed, marines have the big daddy beating stick right now compared to aliens, so there probably won't be as many marine upgrades as alien.

    Also, if you didn't notice, these are NOT the only updates being done to the game. There's a hoard of them and this is just a little foresight as to what MIGHT be added along with a ton of things unmentioned, even quoted by coil. So don't go getting your panties in a knot cause everything is being redone <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yes. Please let the dystopian vision of a doomed NS rest untill 1.1 is released. Up to then, let's just spread good vibes and mellow greetings. No such thing worse than killing the baby before it's even born.

    My favouritest 2 chages are

    Less CPU load. Yay! Finally our little clan get's a chance of leasing our own server.

    Improved commander mode. Yay! Finally us keyboard only comms get a fair chance too <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The rest? Well, they are new and I have no real feel for them. So I shall avoid commenting. Except that I am glad to see we are getting a rehaul of many aspects, instead of regurgitating a probably impossible to balance 1.04 game.

    I know Twisted, I was just saying since they're announce all those alien upgrades and not that many marines upgrades... From what i see it Aliens have it going for them atm. With marines you NEED a good team/very good comm to be able to defeat even a decent alien team. Aliens can have n00bs on their team and still come out winners. And if aliens manage to take just one more hive, they've pretty much got it made for them unless the marines are quick enough to get seige it before aliens have a chance to become fades...

    And that may be true Psygnosis, but first of all you probably won't find a comm in every game able to multi-task so well as to fully take advantage of all the new comm abilities. And second of all, because a comm can say go there, secure that place, etc... That doesn't mean the marines WILL be able to do all that stuff if they don't get some upgrades themselves. The best comm in the world won't be able to instruct the marines to defend against a horde of skulks lying in wait around the conrer <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    bubacus, that might be your experience on public servers, but the clan scene is vastly different.
    This is the imbalance being addressed:

    in large games, aliens almost always lose because marine res is strong and it's VERY easy to get jetpacks and hmgs before the 2nd hive goes up.
    In small games, alien res is stronger than marines' and they find it easier to own most of the map, leaving marines screwed from early on.

    That's why 1.1 is going to PWN in my opinion, along with the CPU load improvements of course meaning my decrepit athlon 1.4 will actually be able to hand more than 12 public slots (and 4 admin slots) on maps like hera and bast without my lounge getting hotter than a hot day in Hades.

    The new alien upgrades arent there to balance the game they are there so that the other chambers get used more. The devs are trying to make the equally viable so any chamber order is useful.

    So basically, this update is for clanners then? Because what I've been saying is pretty much what happens on public servers, and the new updates won't do any good with balancing gameplay on the public servers.

    Also, what's your idea of 'large games'? The most i've played is like 12 vs 12, and i consider that a large game.

    Well that's pretty silly then, since it'll throw the already thin balance out the window. I thought this update was all about balancing? So far it's just been stacking on the aliens.     Guys, I can find you servers a-plenty where the marines regular pwn the Kharaa atm.

    The only place the aliens win with any regularity atm is in the newb pubs. Everywhere else is a farce. 1.1 is gonna rule.
