<div class="IPBDescription">check out the body pic</div> ok, guys, i haven't modelled before, all i do is animation. so this is my first model. please bear with me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
i'm still learning and modelling the muta at the same time. For fun and for starcraft !!!!
i'm making a mutalisk model that would be lerk replacement. I have finished the body. Although still need some final tweaking when i attachment the head and wings and tail.
Any way take a look at the model shot. any suggestions please post them.
Also, things seem going very well for starcraft stuff now. A marine model is almost done, too . Woohoo.
i'm gonna finish this muta model. But give me some time. I'm at the university final exam period, i'm doing this stuff just to take a break from the school work. Dont' expect this to be released before April 18. ( that's my final day of exam ) but i will try to finish it as fast as i can.
I will do the animation , after the model is done, of course. But i will need a skinner to skin this baby. I don't know skinning at all.
also i hope someone will finish some other SC models, maybe an ultralisk? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Comments
i will keep the progress updated.
Good point though.. how is going to look like walking on the ground? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
What smile meant by "Phat" as a compliment. Phat is not Fat. (Phat is Pretty Hot And Tempting as I understand it)
Anyways, good job. Good luck on your Exams, too!

Could someone remove this one?
A: Won't fit the scale of NS (The actual mutalisk is fricken huge, so is the command center, which i hope will not replace the command chair. BTW, an actual starcraft Terran base is a little larger than an NS level). Someone could maybe make an SC MOD for HL, but otherwise, NS is not generic enough to modify the scale that big.
B: Doesn't use same set-up as NS. If I recall, didn't the zerg units all come out of larvae? A gauss rifle mag had ~1000 rounds in it. Large scale battles were later completely vehicular combat only.
There are some other reasons too, but my point is it's gonna be to hard to change a very un-flexible game into another very un-flexible game.
my main concern for muta is also the run and walk animation. But since muta replacement is much better than a scourge replacement. ( scourge also doesn't have legs) So we really don't have a choice.
As for run and walk animation. I'm think about adding a small pair of claws on the wings , just like the default lerk model. And use this claws / wings to crawl forward, and at the same time, the whole body sway a little bit to the left and right. But the body won't touch the ground.
AS for the using snake like movement with the whole body thing, there is a problem with that, since its body is sort of twisted to the front, it 's gonna look weird when it moves that way.
Still my idea is to go with the claws on the wing thing. If anyone else have any idea on how mutalisk should walk / run, please feel free to post it here. Since the animation won't start until the model is done, we have plenty of time to sort it out. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Several things you might be unaware of.
Guardians and Devourers morph from mutas and Lurkers morph from hydras. I would like to see a lurker onos sometime <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
As for all vehicular combat, no. Infantry are still the staple of a terran army for a simple reason - Vehicles are expensive and they need support.
And they die in purty explosions of blood. Mmmm... Blood....
This is due to Half life, not the models.
i have been working really hard this afternoon, both on my school work and this model <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I have finished the main body including the head and tail ( some of you call it mouth )
The only thing left is the wings, i 'm gonna work on it tomorrow.
I still need to do some final tweaking after the wings are done of course.
what do u guys think?
Thanks jamil, for the advice <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
by the way, is there anybody willing to skin your gauss rifle yet?
Can't wait <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
So I guess the answer is no.
well, i do animation, so i have basic knowledge of how all the vertices and bones work. Because i have to make bones for models and assign each vertices to bones. with all the animation i have done, i got used to the " faces" and " vertices " aspect of modelling.
And i find myself actually quite good at visualizing stuff in 3D in terms of faces and vertices.
Therefore i was able to model something this complex on the first try. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Don't worry, with practice u can get proficient in this too. Just be patient <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
