Ok, as an ex-CSer, I recall several tutorials for optimizing client side performance. After following tips and tuts and experimenting I had what I considered the best connec I could get...smooth as silk, no lag and as a result my gaming performance improved greatly...yeah blah blah...
WHat I was wondering is if we are going to see any type of connection optimization guide for NS anytime soon?
Very few of those tutorials for CS seem to work well in NS because of the extra load on both client and server CPU.
I dont know much about how netcode works, but I think its safe to assume that if clients optimize thier connecs, the servers should run smoother. I definately notice when a server optimizes thier connec.(Or at least I assume thats why they run so much smoother)
Anyway, here is my config file minus key binds. I have a cable connec (Dunno exact speed) and play on servers under 150 ping. Any suggestions on any setting that should be changed? Any that need removed/turned off? and that need added?
Also, does anyone know what all the highlighted commands do exactly? Anyone know of a good connec guide for NS?

voice_forcemicrecord "1.000000" //What do these "voice" commands control?
Summit to do with Voice Communication. If you set this to 0 i think you have no voice comm and just have to type
bgmvolume "0.000000" //this is the "soundtrack" correct?
MP3Volume "0.800000" //mp3 soundtrack? or map/in game sound?
Correct
cl_timeout "60"
If your connection doesnt contact the server for this ammount of time, it will disconnect you
cl_download_ingame "1"
cl_allowdownload "1"
If you dont have a map the server is running, this will allow it to download it to you etc.
I think thats all i can help you with... Sorry
cl_updaterate "20" // Number of times a second your client is updated. If your connection is strong, set to 25. Lag will increase slightly.
cl_lw "1" // "lagged weapons" Purely a display thing. Set to 0, weapon sprites and animations will only happen on your screen when they happen on the server. Hits are not 'estimated' 'Blood' will only appear if you did hit. When set to 0, this causes a strange bug in NS where sometimes blink and leap do not function correctly. Hopefully this will be fixed in 1.1
cl_lc "1" // "lag compensation" A similar thing, I forget the exact purpose. I think this does the above for players and other entities.
cl_himodels "0.000000" // High resolution models - set to 1 if good video card
cl_timeout "60" // Time before you lag out - leave as is
cl_download_ingame "1" // Downloads files in game
cl_allowdownload "1" // Allow downloads
cl_allowupload "1" // Allow uploads, set to 1 if you have a custom spray
cl_cmdrate "30" // Number of times a second you send the server info. Leave as is. Keep this higher than cl_updaterate
cl_dlmax "128" // I think this is the max download rate
cl_cmdbackup "2" // Not sure
cl_idealpitchscale "0.8" // Not sure
hpk_maxsize "0" // Dunno sorry
viewsize "120.000000" // Possibly the part of the screen that is used for game display - Not sure
r_bmodelhighfrac "5.0" // Something to do with your display - Not sure.
cl_musicenabled "0.0" // Yes - enable soundtrack.
cl_musicvolume "155" // Soundtrack volume
cl_highdetail "1" // High resolution textures, sprites, etc.
cl_centerentityid "1.0" // Maybe - not sure.
cl_quickselecttime ".15" // Most likely has to do with either menu selections or weapon selections. Not sure
cl_particleinfo "0" // Must be something to do with NS's particle system. I wouldn't mess with it.
