No not Raiden, a new more devious one...
Metal Gear Solid 2 showed up in stores last week. Didn't notice? You're not alone.
According to EB's Web site and Gamestop's website, it ships within 24 hours. I've called local stores to verify that although EB doesn't have it, Babbage's does have 2 or 3 copies, and that's it.
Nothing on the internet about this going gold. Gonegold.com has nothing. Gamespot, Gamespy, and crappy IGN have not had even a wisper about the game being ready, and even worse, not a review in sight either. I've not heard any comments from anybody actually owning the game.
It leads me to believe something is up. After all, its not the first time they tried to fool us on this one. We already know about the pansy cross-dressing Raiden, but perhaps something new is afoot? Does the gameplay suffer horrible bottlenecks in the engine like the X-Box version does? Is the control downright unplayable on the PC, what with no gamepad being anything close to the PS/2 controller. How the hell would MGS2 w/ keyboard and mouse work anyway?
Demo? I doubt it. The game is DVD only. The MINIMUM install is 4 gig, with recommended being 8 gig. 8 gig for a GAME. That's insane, but that's another rant altogether. Back on topic: A demo of this game would either require a DVD of its own, or at least 2 conventional CD-ROMs. And given that the vast majority of people are still on low bandwidth connections, its doubtful that there will be an internet downloadable demo.
I'm not sure if I want to fork over $39.99 for this or not. That's another thing, for a brand new game it sure is priced awfully like a budget title.
If anybody get this game, or even finds some REVIEWS (not previews) please, do post your findings here.
At this point I'm about ready to just buy a PS2 and play it el proper...

They basically said "Great game, but it's a port from a console, OMG, OMG, it burns, take it off me." I'll post a more throughout summary tomorrow.
Well, lets hope that Hideo Kojima does MGS3... we pray to you god!
or maybe i'll just go rent an x-box for a few days because
I finished the PS/2 version in a matter of hours and I only
want to see a few of the new features.
That's not possible, it's MGS2 and more. That's like saying a Dollar is better than 10 Dollars.
So, anybody got the PC version of mgs2 yet? I don't wanna hear griping about the ps2 or x-box versions, I wanna hear just tales of the PC version...
last night one of the sites i stumbled across said that 3.8 gig was
required for install.
I'll try and find the url later.
