Electrified Tfs: Simple Question

<div class="IPBDescription">Visual indication?</div> This may have been brought up in the flurry of posts after the 1.1 update but here goes:

Will there be any visual indication that the Electrified TF upgrade is in effect? Will the TFs maybe throw off sparks etc to let skulks know that biting it would be a bad idea?

Just a simple yes/no would probably suffice <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I hope not, as other electrified obstacles would not do. Have you ever seen an electrified fence shooting out sparks if not struck?

    i don't like the electrified TF idea. that basically kills the aliens' chances of making comebacks (can no longer bite the TF with impunity)

    If the electrified TF isn't balanced, then it'll just not go in the next version, but I'm sure they will PT and balance.

    That's why they playtest before releasing <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Edit: And every time I read something about the electrified TF I can't avoid imagining the scrollarc effect on ns_eclipse over the TF. AAARGH!

    Yep, there's a visual indication when electrified. When an enemy gets to close, he also gets hit with lightning and a zapping sound is played.

    TF ain't the only change in 1.1, cmon now. There are MANY other changes... You shuld be glad new cool ideas and effects are being tossed into the mess which will be PTed. And as someone alrdy mentioned, it will all be PTed before release.

    wow, so it electrfies even if you dont attack it... hmmm thats gonna be painful when a marine base is really crammed and even though your munching on rines in teh chaos you run by the tf and get zapped to death.

    Have to love the use of "Tesla" to indicate Zappage. When in reality Nikola Tesla's research was in high frequency electricity which is way beyond the low frequency electricity that kills. 10000s of cycles vs 10-100s cycles. (Much of his high frequency electricity research is used in medicine)

    Have to blame C&C Red Alert for the lack of understanding of Tesla's Research.

    For any smart people - I recommend you look into tesla's research (Telsa in google). He is one of the most influential and smartest humans to have ever lived. He is the brains behind AC power, practically inventing the electrical industry used today, that hasn't changed since he established it back in the 1880s.
    He is also the father of Radio (US Supreme Court ruling), opposed to the widespread belief of Marconi being the father of radio. Tesla predates Marconi by 20+ years.

    Many of his inventions are too far ahead of their time. Maybe in 100-200 years we will see how signifcant they are.

    But quite an achievement. The Father of Both Modern Communications and Modern Electricity.
    Without his achievements we would be back 100 years at least.

    Yet you don't learn about him in Science Class.

    I imagine aliens shouting things in 1.1 like "ETF in CC!" which would stand for "Electrified Turret Factory in Comp Core!" or something like that.

    I bet you anything it won't deal more than 20 hp a shock and won't fire too fast.


    Flayra is just trying to get rid of the technique where aliens run behind turret fac, much it, and take down a base.


    I do believe the orginal design for turrets was this:


    Marine turret's are roadblocks, and alien turrets are speedbumps.

    An electrified TF, how can this be balanced? Anyone have any suggestions? I think the idea sounds cool and all, I just think that feature has few counters. How about...a rubber mouth guard for the skulks so they can keep biting away.     I think I'm right in thinking that marine buildings will not be stackable in 1.1

    Without any indication of damage amount and rate of fire it depends... for all you know it may deal five points of damage per second... which will mean in the case of hiding behind and munching a tf... like.. one additional trip to heal.

    i hope it's a lot more damage than that, because kalias is my skulk nemesis, munching my structures like a **** moth in a closet!

    I really think we'll have to wait for 1.1 to actually come out before we know for certain. It'll probably get tweaked a lot during playtesting.

    and what about the 'rines touching the TF? and wouldn't that result in the comm having to pay for the electricity used to electrify it.

    then 'rine armor must be made out of rubber, explaining it's crappy proptection against a acid rocket that is about to collide with it's head.
    no serious, how the **** can this be balanced in early game? this is another encouragment to start turret farms i think.like the three hive siege spot in(mapname missing). and it would destroy a avantage of the aliens, the 'rines can't defend every spot. now they just have to build the TF and a few turrets and electricity will kill em. why not immediatly make every building of the 'rines electrified(why not the whole ship). i think the dev-team is gonna encourage us with this to attack the turrets instead of the TF . i hope it wont be like HL electric damage(one hit kill) or that it chews away 15 at a time.
    but still the time to begin complaining is too early, but remeber those topics like 'DAMN MARINES R OVERPOWERED, REMOVE SIEGE GRAAAAAAAAAAAR REMOVE!. expect those back in 1.1.
