When Im playing Im sliding across the floors, low reaction time whenever i press a button on my keyboard, sometimes my mouselocks up whenever im strafing. Anyone have an answer to this? Im getting fine fps, and my ping is low. This is also occurring with the other hl mods such as cs and vs. Also hl is the only game that Im having this problem with. My system specs are

If anyone could give me a solution it would be REALLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you sliding because of your controls of are you sliding like one would across a feild of ice? I have seen servers which run commands that make mobility far more difficult. When walking on the walls or ceiling (I guess it might work on floors as well) you begin to slide without any control.

Has this always been this way ever since you installed HL? Before trying to much troubleshooting, rename your HL directory and reinstall Half-life cleanly, then reinstall your mods.

Yeah i tried reinstalling hl today... the problem seems random. Like earlier I played a fine game of dod, then the next map that loaded it started sliding and i started getting horrible lag again. A year or two ago I never used to have this problem.

Hmmm... tell us more about your computer, OS, hardware, etc. Last time you did a full defrag? As much as you can, basically.

try to change your rate cvar. It might help. You can also find some helphere.

i do have a similar problem with natural selection. i'm playing it under linux (wine).

whenever i move in a direction (mouselook works perfectly), it sometimes (very often) slows me down, as if i'm stuck and sometimes will bring me to a complete halt. i do have to wait or jump around or change the direction, then it will work for a few seconds until the same $%!# happens again.

i really tried everything (and it did work before i made some minor changes to my system, new mouse, more RAM). i've tried different kernels, different configs, different installations and different wine(x) versions.

the last thing i can think of, is my new mouse. logitech mx700. it's wireless. i don't know WHY this could probably be a reason, but i wouldn't surprised by anything at all, any longer. this drives me nuts. the strangest thing is, that this won't occure, when playing counter strike. could there be a problem with the keyboard driver? but why the heck does this only happen in natural selection?

Did the rate change help Ejdge?

As for eNTi, it's going to be pretty hard for me to give you many good answers in that environment. Being in Wine emulation sort of means being on your own . If you could try with a different mouse and let us know?

Yeah i think it helped. It lessened the effect of the problem but i still had it. I decided to run some anti-trojan and bot software and it cleared up all my problems. Thanks for the help

ok, here's how i solved my problems in the end. i'm not sure why this is the root of all evil, but now everything works fine now.

i had 4xFSAA enabled. i disabled it and everything worked out perfectly again.
