i want to see how Natural Selection maps would look with Doom3 type shaders which i'm trying to make in my program. i can't find any info on the format. i need to know the bsp format info so i can load half-life bsp files into my 3d engine.

btw does anyone know if there is a BSP to 3ds converter because i can load 3ds files pretty well.

If you ever download Valve's SDK for mod making on the Half-Life engine, I do believe that it comes with code specific for compiling bsp files and that sorta stuff. Been a while since I've looked into it, and it's quite a hefty download, but you might get more info there.

The guy who made these programs released the source code. And the source code of the BSP compilation programs is included in the SDK. Also, I think you can get the source code of the new tools: ZHLT.

But I suggest you to download the bsp tools sources.

i got pretty far without using other people's source code. i don't like source code. i just like documents explaining things in english. i'm pretty sure there was an explanation somewhere of half-life's BSP format and i think i saw it once but now i can't find it again. i know there's plenty of source code that could help me with plenty of things if i could understand source code. the complete source code to quake1 and quake2 has been released and those games's map formats are supposed to be similar to half-life's.
