Simple question: Is it possible to run a dedicated server on your machine and then use the same machine to play HL? When my server is running, I can't authenticate with WON, so I can't join any internet games. I rooted around a bit but couldn't find an answer. :/

I routinely play on a dedicated test server setup on my workstation but have had it so long that I don't remember the specifics of setting it up <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Ya, Them is right, just put the server port to say 27016, then it will be fine.
Ahh, thanks. Now how do I start the server on a different port? I don't see an option for that in the HL menu. I also tried to make a shortcut to start the server (WinXP) with hlds.exe -game ns , but it doesn't work. Sorry for all of the basic questions.
This is my server shortcut which I use when playing from the same machine. Gives you an idea...
hlds.exe -game ns +map ns_eclipse -maxplayers 12 -port 27016 **Don't ask about the -/+'s as noone really has given a solid answer as to what the difference is. Just follow the above, add your stuff in.**
