Suggestion Forum Useless?

Or, does Flayra visit us?
I happen to like posting in the suggestion forum as do many other people. A lot of the ideas that somehow travel over to the general discussion have already been beaten to death by the people over in the suggestion forum. There's a HUGE thread on ideas that takes a while to go through but nearly every idea you can think of has been put in it.
However, there's almost never any response from Flayra on any of these topics. He's a busy guy right? We'd just like some type of "Hello, that idea won't work" or "that sounds good but with these changes" every now and then. I did a search and found like one whole post in the past month from him, concerning model rotations... It's just starting to feel like it's not very helpful or useful to post in those forums anymore.
Posting in the suggestion forums is like sitting in a bathroom stall where the person next to you is taking a huge, nasty poo. Everyone knows it's there but they try to ignore it to the best of their ability.

Comments
A lot of us read them just for our daily laughs, and for some good insight to workable ideas. It's just that generally, the community itself often weeds out bad ideas quickly. Half of us don't comment on the I&S forum, simply because doing so is often just to reiterate what someone else has said.
I try to take a break from moderating that forum every now and again... because, forgive me, but it's a complete sespool in there most of the time... but good ideas happen, and those ideas are discussed.
At least a small indication that our busy brains are just spewing information forth into the abyss

I'm just asking to be owned here...
Are you actually serious? Or not?
And as a side note to that, the problem we face over in S&I is that we, the posters, might think we have a great idea, but if the devs think differantly we really don't know. To take a recent example the idea by Talesin for parasite hasn't been commented on by the devs, but has recieved a lot of discussion and support. How are we supposed to know whether we should discuss it? Because if the devs don't want it we could discuss it until doomsday and never get anywhere...
/me huggles the S&I forum

and yes Ryo, this sekrat forum with it's sekrat people does indeed exist.
Some tips to get your Idea noticed.
1. Give it a semi-intelligent name
2. Don't boast that it is the best idea since Canadian jokes. Give everyone the chance to decide on that for themselves
3. Make a decent attempt at coherent sentences and if you feel your up to the challenge, try doing it all in paragraphs too
4. Resist the urge to flame, it will just end up getting your post locked
5. Be open to suggestions even if they don't go perfectly with what you originally envisioned
Following all these 'guidelines' won't necessarily ensure that the sekrat people read about your thread in their sekrat forum, but doing so will increase the chance of it being read
I think.
But to be truthful, I generally don't need a lot of ideas for NS. I have way more ideas then I could ever implement. The S&I forum exists to capture those really great ideas that you guys come up with that I never would've thought of. There is also a need for players to speak their minds about new ideas, and it's better for those posts to be in one forum then scattered elsewhere.
Maybe when I have more time then ideas, I'll get into deep discussions there, but right now I just peruse it from time to time.

Don't worry - he does read the forum, and so do we (moderators and playtesters) - "coil's 1.1 suggestion thread" was my attempt to capture the best of the best in the forums, and Flay definitely looked at the resulting document. So yeah, he does see it.
They do care!
I must say that it is heartening to hear Flayra say he's got so many more ideas than what's currently in NS. I mean WOAH, what we've seen so far is but a taste of what this man can produce?!
That said I must sit down and play Empire Earth one of these days. I'd play with my mate but he just tech-rushes to nukes (sounds like 1.0 playtesting )
Please keep in mind that we, as a community, can produce ideas and suggestions much faster than they could ever be added, even without worrying about balance issues. There is also the previous playtesting experience as well as production experience where the developers have found out that idea X just didn't work the way it was intended or some ingenious h4xr figured out a way to exploit it. The last thing you want to do as a developer is put out a version that is quickly dumped by the community because someone found a way to use one technique to drain all of the fun out of it, so ideas are carefully considered. No one should feel slighted because their idea was not responded to or used by the developers. I am sure that there are a ton of ideas that Flayra would love to add but cannot due to time/engine/balance/pre-existing direction constraints.
Flayra also seems to have enough experience to know you don't mention a feature until you are fairly sure you are going to use it, because the community will feel like they had something taken away from them, despite the fact they never had it in the first place.
I agree !

Flay is doíng great.
I've always wondered how people became playtesters? Was it a first come, first serve basis?
Oo! Oo! Can I be a tester?

*bangs head on table*
*repeats*
from what Flayra has let on with NS and how much it has evolved then I'm sure that 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.0, etc will be fantabular (I love mixing words)

the comma is our friend

I just hope they get read before they inevitably get pushed to the back. gee.
oh, and I don't care about being a playtester, but can I be a mod? I mean... uh. .. well...
