<div class="IPBDescription">The FPS/RTS thing is catching on</div> <a href='http://www.empiresmod.com/about.html' target='_blank'>http://www.empiresmod.com/about.html</a>

Well what do you know, a FPS/RTS is being released for 1942. Looks a little more visually stunning but what do you expect. One cool diffefence that I can see is the fact that buildings are full sized. Of course, with only one race, things should get a little more repetitive.

Just imagine how boring that will be for anyone who's played NS....
    Poor devs..
They don't know they've already failed

Actually that looks really interesting, since I have BF1942 and that mod if they can do what they can claim to do looks really solid. Probably won't be out for a long while though.

Having played the RTS mods for opflash, I can say that these work surprisingly well in large outdoor environments. This should be very interesting.

Hmm... that looks interesting. I only quickly skimmed it, but it looks like it could be real fun. Too bad I don't have BF1942 <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

[By the way, shouldnt this be in off-topic?]

I dont think we should complain about this, just as its similar to NS. I think it would be interesting to playing something similar to NS on a different engine, and also there is no mention of Aliens. Although with no SDK available yet, it would be pretty basic and not have as much detail as NS, where you can hardly tell that its still the HL engine underneath. Hm, seeing this just made me reinstall BF1942...

Oh yeah I forgot BF1942 doesn't have a SDK. Hmm, well we'll see where it goes.

EDIT: is it me or did this post just get moved to off topic? Hope its not me, man I need some sleep.

This looks like a really promising mod, I hope they pull it off.

NS is no longer unique it seems. D:

Considering these mods aren't out yet... NS is still unique.

    Krenzo - Scripting, Website

    Megel - Models, Skinning

    lol...

    alot of modifications are "solid"

this one might be a little less solid than the most anticipated mod for GTA3

deftly named "GTA3 Multiplayer Mod" or "GTA3: Multi Theft Auto"

It seems that EA/DICE are uninterested in the free mod community for BF1942. With no sDK, no real scripting tools, no easy map editor, and a proven desire to buy up and repackage what few mods can overcome these limits (Desert Combat, recently), they are going for the wallet angle. It's pretty gross, honestly, not to mention bad for business, although they have not manged to figure that out even with Valve's 5-year, 200 million dollar example...
