and people jumping to conclussions (sp?)
Did I spell conclussions right?
gah, getting off topic
*ahem*
A trend that I have seen to be more and more prevelent on the NS forums is the blatant complaining about features in 1.1
as far as my knowledge extends, playtesting has just begun, and many of the talked about changes haven't even seen the light of day/monitor. NS is looking good right now, Comprox seemd confident enough to close the bug report forums, so all most attention is on: that skulk sneaking up on you right there *points* and the much publicized, critizied, awaited release of 1.1 in the future.
I pose several queries to you
A) do you personally think 1.1 will be a sweeping change for the better?
B) what is your stance on people who blast what they don't know about? (why do I have a sinking feeling I'm setting my self up to get ed?)
C) anything I may have wished.
go on now, do your thing and discuss!

I haven't heard a lot about it, but the things I've heard so far seem to be pretty good. Most importantly though, v1.1 would allow the devs to tweak the exploits and bugs that were discovered after v1.0 was released. That alone would make v1.1 much better.

Many people instinctively fear the worst. Added to this is the fact that a properly-written 'rumor' needs no truth to be believable. I could say something obviously false like "siege cannons in v1.1 won't shoot through walls", and there would almost always be someone that would believe it's true.
A whispered worst-case scenario is made worse by the one person who wants to yell that whispered comment to everyone.

Nope, it's one 's'. "Conclusions".

Well said. Heck, we're still seeing threads in the General forum being locked about the April 1st joke.
A quote from Obi-Wan in Star Wars: Episode 4 comes to mind. "Who is more foolish, the fool, or the fool who follows it?"
[edit]The above wasn't to imply that the guys who came up with the April 1st joke are fools themselves: I'm referring to true fools who come up with crazy lies and get follower fools with the rumors. The flock effect is rather impressive: never underestimate stupid people in large numbers.[/edit]
I started following NS around August of '01 and I've witnessed many discussions regarding features suggested both by the Devs and the public. One thing I've learned is, when NS was released it was way beyond anything I expected. And there was MUCHO hype surrounding the release. I am very confident that Flayra and Co. will take every precaution with future releases. After all the work that's gone into this mod, I refuse to believe they'd be flippant about structural changes to gameplay. Will it be better? I say yes.

The populace of these "people" consists of pretty much anyone not involved in development and playtesting (this includes me ). What's funny is, if one were to play on a server running v1.00 and then another running v1.04, the differences would be dramatic. One specific change that initially made people crazy was the cost of Fades (44-54). Oh I could here the whining while I was at work waiting to get home and play! But now that we've all adapted and incorporated the change into our strategies, it's clear this was a good decision. Change is painful. But the "cleansing" effect can improve the product in ways we won't realize until we've forgotten how "bad" it used to be. The gripers will always be there but it can be a good way to keep the devs in "check". If the changes are found to be negative (and I don't believe they will) I'm sure they'll be altered/reversed in future revisions. But as always, "I want it MY way NOW!".
