    Ok I am going to make a version that uses the smartgun animations (I have them done actually but someone was saying something about a welder with different animations) it won't replace the current model it'll be separate.

    I'm working on the firebat right now and I'll try to keep as many hoses as I can but I'm worried they might get in the way of the animations or end up looking strange when the arms bend but if I can do.

    ok, i was playing a game on Nancy today and i was comm.

    a bunch of marines and a bunch of hydras are battling for control of messhall. With starcraft music playing at the same time and mercatorn's starcraft soundpack ( I have replaced all teh music like ambient mp3 AND the 2 music files of NS with starcraft terran and zerg main theme mp3. ) , it really feels like starcraft and in 3D!!!!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    my friend came in at the time and said: " WT? i haven't heard that blizzard has released starcraft 2? "

    Its really stupid seeing a marine in armor like this dying in 2 bites. I'll probably use other models until the HA version is released.

    Also the skin really puts me off, it looks like just plain red/blue and gray painted here and there. Sure if you look closely you might be able to see some detail, but at a distance (even about 1-2m) all you really see is plain grey and red/blue.

    please note that Starcraft power armor is not as tough as u guys think. And zerg units are not as crappy as u assume.
    the power armor is only effective against small arms fire. there is nothing fancy about it, just a uniform designed to cope with hostile environment with quite a few cool gadgets in it, but not very tough.

    As for zerg, if you watch the Battle of Amerigo cinematics, u will notice that those hydralisks killed those marines with mostly one single strike of those pointy claws of theirs . Especially the first marine, whose back of the helmet was penetrated by a hydralisk's single slash. ( And the last mouthful of beer he would ever tasted was spilled all over the place along with his brains )

    So 2 bites to kill by a skulk ( ie zergling ) ? no big deal.

    I just realized how sloppy my mapping was and it's probably making it hard to just reskin so I'm going to remap him and try to give him a better look and re-release the model. So hold off on doing any skins for how (unless you already have something good.)


    Hey Jamil, where did you find out what colors the squads use? Omega is black, what color is Alpha?

    Then there were some pirate groups.

    Y'know when I look at that in HLMV, the textures marked chrome.bmp <i>do</i> seem to have a reflective chrome effect ( I only noticed as I was looking through the animations just now ) whereas all the others are matt..

    how does that work? Do you set a "make shiny" button on the faces or is it achieved through the textures somehow? ( y'know how pure blue = transparent with sprites etc..)

    Or is it just HLMV being weird again?

    Possibly a daft question, but I'm a bit noob..

    Anyone?

    The broodwar manual is pretty much non-existant, it has a quick lowdown on the new units, and its all in black and white. No mention of a blue faction any where.

    I do remember in the game though, that Jim Raynor's faction was blue. I may be mistaken of course.
    I'd have to check.

    when your playing around in hlmv, you can set a certain texture to chrome, export, save, and import to have it be default chrome or "shiny".... it doesn't work too great most of the time, but with some of it, it looks great

    (examles: SC marine, "doom guy"...)

    Thanks for the explanation..I'd used the chrome button before, but I didn't realise it was a property you applied to individual textures, thought it was more a rendering option, y'know like flatshade, wireframe etc..

    The chrome parts use their own texture file. You can set up a special bmp and as long as the word Chrome is in it's title, HL will use its chrome effect on that bmp.
