    Threads are locked if
    1) the topic has been brought up 10 million times and beaten to the ground
    2) the topic is inappropriate for these forums
    3) the thread has degenerated into mindless post++'ing (posting for posts' sake)
    4) the thread has degenerated into mindless flaming (redundant what?)
    5) A forum moderator feels that the world would be a significantly better place if it were locked
    6) Spydermonkey had a bad day*
