    It looks as tho it could be pretty cool...but its too dark to tell, and the grate prevents you from seeing the actual room.

    From a first glance, I'd suggest it needs to be brighter with more interesting lighting, but I really couldn't say until the actual room was visible : )

    ohh, didn't see the second pic.

    Better, but still needs light!

    The railings/room size seem kinda dis-proportionate to the size of the player. Maybe it just looks that way because it's so dark.

    yea, that grate will end up with a hole in it, which will make it look nicer i hope, and it is actually brighter in game, but the resizing and compressing make it look fugly here

    the size works out pretty well also

    Third pic looks a lot better (God, I can't keep up&#33<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    The lighting *still* looks a little dark though. I think NS's env_gamma ramp would help this, but of course its effect isnt passed over into screenshots.

    Keep at it!

    At first I thought my monitor was getting really dark... but then I looked at the Hera and Bast screenshots and realized it's not my monitor.

    It seems every new mapper that shows up is trying to set new records for insufficient lighting! <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Natural Selection is not about incredibly dark rooms. The aliens have no flashlight, they are blind in the dark like anyone else, these are not AvP aliens with a navigation vision mode. If you want to hide aliens, use architecture to do it and some patches of darkness... not complete darkness.

    Wow, that's a huge improvement. Very Nice! But yeah, you probably don't want to have something that dark ingame. Make sure a person who has never played the level can easily get around without any trouble. Some spot lights on the ground here and there might be beneficial. Remember that NS lighting is not about darkness... it's about contrast.

    Awesome.

    (-Edit- Or yeah... what Yama said there. heh.)
    (-Edit2- Just to clarify, I realize that it's brighter ingame... but still make sure your floor are lit up sufficiently)

    fair enough points, i'll make some changes. walking around in game i did notice a few spots were "too dark" even though in game the whole rooms are generaly brighter.
    still it's nice to know that i set a record <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
