Or how NS has changed
This is more or less just a random topic giving a tumbs up to the main man Flayra, and the whole NS team and contributing community. I first heard about NS as a bold new mod for HL, promising to break down walls like the Kool-Aid man, bringing fresh new life into the Half-Life community. When I first heard about its RTS aspects, I almost scoffed. How could something like that be done on an aging Half-Life game engine? When I finally got my hands on it, I was blown away, along with the thousands of other gamers playing it. This was the biggest "sleeper-hit" HL mod I had ever played (I only heard about it a few days before the release). Pretty much all HL mods boast about their "team oriented gameplay", yet none of them live up to it. Until NS. REAL teamplay, and REAL strategy keep it set apart from all other mods, while still retaining a fast paced action feel that an FPS has. As strategies evolve, and patches come out balancing the gameplay, the evolution mod is continuing to evolve, and the party is just getting started. The possibilities from here on are limitless as new weapons, upgrades, aliens, and abilities are still very able to be created. To anyone who has worked on NS: I give you my thumbs up in helping to create a mod which has all sucked away at our precious free time (in a good way).

the first time I saw NS my jaw went into freefall, and I have been in love every since!
I have been following this mod since the very beginning (I almost submitted a map for the official 1.0 release ) and I can say that I every day I am impressed with the new developments, and the commitment that the team has put into NS. I remember drooling over the screenshots of the commander view. I remember envying the playtesters who spent countless hours tweaking and perfecting the gameplay for the big release. I remember the day it was released, waiting in line at FilePlanet to download the sweet kharaa-enriched goodness that would occupy the majority of my free time for the next year.
I am still drooling (my saliva glands are getting somewhat tired) over the long-awaited release of 1.1
This game has captured the hearts (and WSAD keys) of many die-hard gamers, and it will continue to do so for a long time.
Keep up the great work, and may the Gorge be with you.

I think the fact that team had very clear goals, even from the start and haven't wavered a tiny bit as to the basic philosophy of the game even though they get grief and opinion from not only nay-sayers but often the largest supporters of the game is the most impressive part of it all...
I work in software and I've seen what happens when customers allow development to lose the original point of the product in the first place...
Soooo a quick 3 cheers for Flay et all...
/me heads back to work..
and it keeps getting better!!
evolution at work.
