Can we all agree on this?
The reasons should be pretty self evident. We have incomplete information about the current state of NS, and we will continue to have incomplete information even for a while after 1.1 is released. It will take at least 2 weeks for the most diehard of fans to make any accurate surface level observations about the state of the game.

The posts after 1.04's release half convinced me that the forum was dominated by ungrateful little ***s.
Lets not repeat that.

I mean, jesus, you guys should be too busy playing it anyways.

2 weeks is a bit long

    nobody would follow it

at the most, 1 week people will be stating any changes they'd like to see

before that week, though, people will be spamming posts about the small changes that they LOVe.

Gawd, aren't the balance posts SO unfair on the Kharaa? Jesus.

I'd give the balance posts, 1 hour, MAYBE 3 hours MAX.

I'm going to bump until this gets stickied (hah) or locked

People were already posting balance posts before the testing began - so I think the hour/3 hour estimate is a little optimistic.

Alas. Maybe some people will wait to at least play it before they make a judgement. Ok, maybe a few people. Uh, well, there's this guy I know, and...

I fully agree with Multano. Maybe we'll enforce something to that effect for the first few days after the release.

Well said, I think it will take AT LEAST two weeks for the most diehard and observant fans to locate problems/concerns and develop observations of any potential(s). I also feel that a "Bug Freeze" should be enabled like Nemesis suggested.

Perhaps create a 2 week lock on reporting bugs for the while being so that people don't flood with commentary such as "This doesn't work."

lol, do u think u could stop it. Even if u did some how do it the boards would be pretty much silent.
  • abtmabtm Join Date: 2003-04-08 Member: 15337Members
Silence not withstanding, I think it would be best to freeze at the very least, all balance related issues until the game has throughly had it's chance and experienced players can weigh in on what they feel should be done or at least; suggest such.

How about you lock the forum for 2 weeks after the release?
  • abtmabtm Join Date: 2003-04-08 Member: 15337Members
I can't do that, but it would be a good idea to do that especially the IRC channel, lock that for an hour after the release

Just lock the Suggestion forum, since that's where most of the complaining will go.

even if "WE" don`t, then their will be other new forumers comeing along for a good time to whine about how x are always doing x to x and their x is bigger than their x and... i made my point.

    Thank you Captain Obvious.

You do realize all the reasonable, logical people with an ounce of common sense knows this without being told.

And those you are directing this thread to, those unreasonable, illogical people lacking all common sense. They are probably gonna continue to do unreasonable, illogical things such as post balance threads before v1.1 is out because they are the way they are.

I agree with your point, but you have to know this is a pretty useless thread. The best course of action for us reasonable, logical human beings is just not to reply to any those threads you speak of and let them die.

Heh, we got balance posts about TFs within ours of them being mentioned. You think we are going to have people waiting 2 weeks to post balancing comments about issues implimented? It aint gonna happen. But, if it makes you feel better, I'll promise not to post suggestions for 2 weeks after.

btw, if you close down the S&I forums for a bit, you better be ready to go all slap-down style on this forum, some people wont be able to resist.

Yeah, the people who this thread is meant for won't read it. It'd be nice, but it's not going to happen due to n00bs (disclaimer: the n00b is a llama, the newbie is a new player).
  • MooManMooMan Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 5154Members
    Yeah, actually ur right.

The fact that people have been posting balance since the first idea of 1.1, even thou it was only a freakin' idea, they still whined about it.

    Its already started

Actually, I wouldn't mind balance posts right after the 1.1 is released. Forumers can easily ignore/denounce these threads when they bounce up. Why do I think this is okay? Because first impressions are important, even if they're flawed.

uhh... Whats wrong with having balance posts? it just informs other people of effective things they can do in the new version.... and forces other people to find a counter... and/or tell other people the counter to the so called "inbalance". If anything i would encourage balance posts.
