and lived...
Its been a while since I posted something but recently I saw that "Most dangerous thing you've done" topic in the general forum and it was about NS. I really wanted to hear about real life so... I'm bringing this to the off-topic forums. I really don't have a dangerous moment so I can't tell mine. What are yours?
EDIT: btw, I'm really "An Experienced Newbie"

Out...side?
Aren't there bears outside?
Um...I was a roadie bike 100 K ride... After about 20 or miles of uphill or so, we got to the top, and it was mostly downhill, then flat. Well, I decided that I would maintain my steady 35-38 MPH going downhill, all was cool until I hit a 90 degree turn that came from nowhere. I hit the side of the mountain at a high speed, flipped once or twice or more (So i was told, I really have no idea what happened, everything was a blur ) Clipped off the right handle bar of the bike, it was perfectly clean too, like someone took a saw to it. After all the crashing ended, i dislodged my body out of the bike, ground, and side of the mountain, got up, walked to the side of the road, and started walking with my bike slung over my right shoulder down the road. One person was there to see it. Luckily got picked up later by the lag mobile.
1 minute later, another guy came and did the same thing, but his bike remained intact.
All that work for nothing...Oh well, at least i didnt break my neck like i probably should have.
A few years back, I had a downhill mountain biking sponsorship - I'd ride all the time, a few minor injuries here and there, nothing too major, until one run...
I was practicing my run down the hill, as you were allowed to do before the actual competition started. At one point, I hit a jarring rut and my right foot slipped off of the pedal; you don't use clips in downhill racing. Since you want the lightest, strongest bike possible in downhill racing, my sponsor hadn't put any kind of guard on the front gear cassette where the crankshaft is attached too...
Long story short, my leg slid down, over the gears, which cut into my leg from approximately my ankle to mid-calf. They were also *spinning* at the time, so along with getting sliced vertically, they tore up the rest of my leg in that area so badly that there was really no muscle left by the time I came to a rest at the bottom of the hill.
I was on crutches for about 3 months, but fortunately, the wound healed up *extremely* well - all the muscle reattached itself and the skin grew back with very little scarring. You can't even see it because of the leg hair that regrew on top.
I don't know how many here know about marine life, the morei eel has a bad rep. It's actually a pretty tame and non-confrontational animal until you corner it in its lair. When that happens, it will bite onto the offending creature and not let go until it believes the thing dead.
That said, I was once stuffed into a small hole in the coral with a morei eel, the space was just big enough to admit a person. The eel was six inches from my nose, and the largest I'd ever seen, I could easily fit my first into it's mouth. Its width was about that of my leg. For some strange and morbid reason, I waved to to it, just a had wave. Then I tried to back out as smoothly and non-threateningly as possible. Whole thing probably lasted a couple seconds, felt a lot longer than that though.
So here I am, looking at the menu, I say "I'll have some cheesecake please, no cherries". Its quiet now, looking out the window, possibly the last thing I ever wouldve seen if god wasent with me that day. "Here you go".
There it was, just me and the cheesecake, staring at eachother. Finally I picked up the fork...and ate a piece...thats when it started. I started chewing, it was very soft that day, I took in another bite, and another, untill I got to the back of the pie, and this was where the mirical happend. I ATE the last piece, I was alive! I was now thinking "Thank you god, you have saved me from death". I got up from the table, my mom payed the bill and we left. I walked away from that table, and I was glad to be alive. If it werent for that last bite, I might not be here today.
That is my story, and I hope it never happens again...
Yeah. That's me. I play mostly late at night though.
I have no idea what's the most dangerous thing i've done though.. proly something that involves drinking ;)
Most dangerous things I did: cross a highway on foot (well there weren't lots of cars...), cross the Champs-Elys?es (Paris) on foot, mostly crossing roads on foot...

I was out in the middle of nowhere on some road going through a heavily wooded area with my dad behind me (learner's permit requires it) when we came up to an S-Curve with a set of train tracks in the middle of the S. I didn't think it was a problem so I kept going at like 45 or 50 mph or whatever the hell speed we were going.
The funny thing about going around an S curve at that speed is that you need to take the bike from one heavy lean to the other side in another heavy lean. It's kinda hard to do that when the damn train tracks just gave you about 6 inches of air because the road around them was slightly elevated.
I ended up finishing the curve still going 50 on the outside edge of the oncoming lane (thank god nobody was there).
Winter 2000, was a senior in high school. Snow day, went over to my friends house and decided to go tubing, but not down a hill, being pulled behind a fourwheeler. I was the second one to go, was in a field and my friend who was diving made a quick turn, swung me around really fast, and plowed into a big moud of frozen dirt, which was covered by snow so you couldnt see it. I passed out, then I woke up to my friend slapping me in the face. I Went home, went to the hospital, spent about 4-5 hours in the emergency room, and then they put me in Intensive care. Eventually I found out that I had fractured my spleen, had massive internal bleeding, collapsed my lung, and killed my kidney. My blood oxygen level was like 70 or something like that, borderline on death. I didnt sleep for four days straight, started hallucennating, and started my morphine addiction (well, not addicted, but I do enjoy it when I get it, Ive only needed it twice, kidneystone). I had to be rolled ove in the bed to be cut open so they could put a chest tube in to drain the blood, and cut right below my neck to put something in to save my life. I was in the hospital 11 days, 6 of those in ICU. I missed 3 weeks of school, didnt get to go skiing, and lost 20 pounds.
Now I have a dead kidney in me, and had my only (hopefully) near death experience.
hey burr, sounds like a great way to loose 20 punds, I think I will try it, lol gald your alive and well(?), that was just distressing to read.
@DOOM, congratz man
hmm, danger?
Not much I am just accident prone, I don't need to be doing something dangerous to F my self up
Im a medical nightmare
Other dangerous things, I ride fourwheelers alot, drive wrecklessly, drink too much for having only kidney, shoot a homemade potato gun that could explode, play with fire, tease large animals that could bite my hand off (hey, pigs are mean, and they will come after you) and ski way too fast.
