<div class="IPBDescription">I downloaded the Ultimate Unwrap3D Demo</div> Well I went on to skinmesh this puppy and followed a tutorial that told me to use the "free" demo of ultimate unwrap3D. So I spend over an hour learning how to mesh and making a mesh for my model only to find out i can't save or export it. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> It really stinks, why doesn't the demo enable saving? Why couldn't the maker of Ultimate Unwrap make a 30 day trial with saving enabled instead? What good is a program if you can't save? Why would you spend time doing work in it at all? Oh well, all that time just wasted. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> Does anybody know of a free skinmeshing program similar to Unwrap3D that either free or has a trial period?

I guess it's for the best since I've decided to optimize the zergling model before handing it over to Hudson to animate. I hope I'll be done before the end of the weekend. Here's an update on the model as it is now...

Like i said before, i will say again...

the modeling 101 webbed does not help anyone.

no ammount of mindless reading will make you better / randomly learn things.

This topic is about a week old, stop hi-jacking it.

Hmm ... perhaps you should read it. Then you'll see a link <i>there</i> for lithunwrap. Also, some of the links in that there thread are the tutorials that helped me get started, and are continuing to teach me new things.

Mindless reading will not teach you things, I'll grant you. But who for example goes to school expecting that merely by going to the classes will be enough to become proficient in a subject. Of course it's going to take a bit of work.

I learned everything from reading tutorials and hands on experience. I have yet to ask anyone how to perform anything in the modelling process. If you've got some reading comprehension problem, then maybe it's something you need to work out. I'm used to learning out of books. I've had to do it for all my courses in the last 4 years at univ. All I can say is, if you don't understand it the first time, read it again and again until you do. Because trust me, anything I or anyone else will tell you is already written down in those tutorials. So if you can't understand it from them, you will never understand it from us.

I believe that should read "The modelling 101 webbed has not helped <i>me</i>".

I've learned plenty from it myself, although trial and error is still my preferred method. Mostly error at the minute.

It's a lot to take in, but it's a complex subject. You have links to tools and at least 500 assorted tutorials, surely that's a decent start?

Judging from the model...I'd say it looks a lot better than that OTHER zergling (BLECH). It's all donw to the skin...and anims..

.. its a skulk hack. The back lets are a joke in my opinion but i like it with geeks skin. just the back legs that i hate. And the carapace seems almost too blocky i dunno. oh yea and i suggest that we stop posting in this dead thread now.... *closed* (wish i could)
