Im starting some ideas with my clan... A bug-mod with gigantic bugs like these:

----------------------------
I've got reference photos for all the models if anyone is interested...
----------------------------

[Skulk] = Normal Spider

[Gorge] = Black widow Spider

[Lerk] = Killing Bees

[Fade] = Prayin Mantis

[Onos] = Big Beetle (maybe a spider too, is that possible?)
----------------------------

[Hive] = ? (maybe an bee-cube)

[Marines] = Evil bug-terminators

----------------------------

Can anyone give some ideas? <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Frogs aren't insects

    it's a decent idea that has been thrown around before.... along with my animal idea and the robot aliens idea. I suggest going for it if your a decent enough modeller... some other plausible insects are ants and beetles. I'd say a beetle could make either a good gorge or an onos (some beetles are pretty big, with pincers) and the spider or ant idea would work well for the skulk, because they are wall climbing insects...

    a dung beetle is always handy with building stuff <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Maybe i could edit the original cockroach to be an gorge? (or widen it to look like an beetle...)

    And a spider/ant (not sure witch one to choose) for the Skulk it is for sure!!!

    spider would fit better imo <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I can't help you with Milkshape, since I use 3dsmax. However, if you're extremely new to modeling, I'd suggest checking out the stickied "Modeling 101" topic at the top of the forum.

    Also, to be perfectly honest, I would suggest taking the time to learn to model from scratch, rather than just hacking other models. It takes a little more time, but I guarantee you will be happier and others will be more impressed with the end result.

    Its ok coil he has to learn somehow. And the current tutorials for milkshape kinda...suck...

    EDIT: Oh yea I suggest a spider for the gorge, and a rhinoceros beetle like coil said for the onos.

    .... Coil... can u send me (email) a list of what 3dsmax- plugins u use? Or some1 else if u are busy (i am very confused right now, cant find out what plugin goes with what program...

    And do u use GMAX or the bought one?
  • SnO0PySnO0Py Join Date: 2003-02-27 Member: 14092Members
    Well its easy to use, once you learn to use it. Ice you realize 3dsmax costs over $800 right? And even with GMAX you still need milkshape/3dsmax to export the .md3 or whatever to, because GMAX dosent support Half-Life...or something like that.

    I use the full version of 3dsmax. The only plugins I use are Texporter for exporting my UVW skinmaps, and a HL SMD Export plugin. I also use a HL SMD Import MAXScript for importing SMD files to use as references.

    You can find all of those in the Modeling 101 topic.

    I know that everyone is interested in SC right now, and im far from pro when it comes to modelling so i thought that it would be a good idea to start somewhere else than sumthin as "Pro-requirering" as SC...

    (I hope that u understand my post! A bit messy, right?)
