FACT: in a 1.1 screenshot posted by flayra he has 39/100 resources with only a single hive and no upgrades at all, hiding in ambush on eclipse as a skulk.
FACT: in 1.04 a skulk can onos if it reaches 70 res.
add the two together (while hoping the second fact holds true in 1.1) and you have a one hive onos.
i suspect that in early game no one will get 70 res, so there is no worry of an instant onos. but for situations where the marines have turtled up and teching in one hive this possibility becoems real and wonderful.

Here's the simple truth, boys and girls.
1) Worries about aliens "not capping at 33 to help the gorge" are NOT APPLICABLE. That was clearly a flaw in the 1.0x system - a flaw that has been fixed.
2) Worries about aliens overpowering marines since they can go Onos at Hive 1 (assuming that even makes it to release!) are FOOLISH - the NS team is not going to release an obviously unbalanced game.
3) Worries about the resource system in general are POINTLESS. You don't know how it works any more, so please stop trying to make suggestions for something you know nothing about.
4) Asking playtesters for information about the resource system is FRUITLESS. The system has changed 3 times in as many nights of playtesting, fairly dramatically in all 3 cases. It will change more before 1.1 releases. Anything we did tell you today might be dead wrong tomorrow.
So, that makes just about every post in this thread either not applicable, foolish, pointless, or fruitless. Sounds like a pretty useless topic to me. Sorry guys!
-edit- NoImagination, I realize that overzealous topic-locking only serves to stifle discussion. The problem with this thread is that there's no discussion that *can* be had. Non-playtesters are getting worked up over "issues" that simply don't exist, and playtesters aren't able or allowed to clear up misconceptions and set the record straight (since the resource system is constantly changing, and we are under NDA anyway). Personally, I think there will be more negative energy resulting from a bunch of people all worrying to death when there is no need to. Please, just this once... trust Flayra & the team.
