mostly interface/ sprite related
Howdy ho - I have a bunch of issues with NS, some more common/pervasive/annoying then others. Here they are in the order in which they bug me on a regular basis:
1. Blips on the minimap (command mode) almost NEVER show up like they are supposed to. I always have a whole bunch of blue blips and red blips stay on screen when they are no longer there and by the end of the game the minimap is basically covered with blips that aren't really there. This makes commanding quite the pain.
2. The same issue but with motion tracking in marine mode - however this happens less often. When it does happen however I have something like 50 motion blips on my screen, making trackers mostly useless.
3. MAJOR command interface issues - this has happened to me 3 or 5 times already. Sometimes I click on an armory and it selects the observatory instead - and then whatever building I try to click it will select the observatory. Other times I climb into the chair and the interface flashes and disapears. Both these things means I loose command which upsets both the team and myself
I have a feelings these might be known issues or something. I thought it might have had somethiung to do with my mad and aincient Voodoo Banshee + WickedGL setup. Nowhowever I have a pimpin GF4 TI2400 and the problems have not gone away.
System specs:
1.63 AMD Duron
512 RAM
GF4 TI2400 with 128 RAM
built in sound from MSI motherboard
Running at 1280x1024 OpenGL (because I can )
HL from the original release (i.e. not CS retail)
WinXP

2) very very odd, I have never heard of this one, sorry man, I can't think of anything (does anything else happen at the same time?)
3)
A) I think that is just the buggy interface (hehe, think about what this is, an implementation of a RTS controll system into an FPS, YES IT IS BUGGY ), also agian probably fixed in 1.1 (again no quotes)
B) Do you have the latest drivers for Vid cards?
a possible thing is to try and rename the NS direct and reinstall it (I am simply paroting MonsE here, I don't know why he says to rename it, I guess to save your configs for refferance)
good luck, I tihnk allot of your probs will be gone in 1.1
For the second issue, are you saying that you see more motion tracking icons than there are players (and hives)? Do they move or stay still?
The third issue sounds like massive network latency. Tell us about your connectivity - dial-up? Winmodem? V.92 modem? Cable? DSL?
The second isssue might be network related as well, I'll hold out on the network answer.
So that excludes the massive latency explaination
try Lasso selecting stuff (be it a building or a few marines or what not) to see if it clears this error.
But if A is a TF I still don't get the upgrades for example
Really odd
That happens to me all the time too
How to fix it? That's simple:
When you are in the com chair, all you have to do is to just select the com chair.
You know, just click it once with your mouse and the problem has been solved.
After that it will work "normally".
as for the motiont racking blips what happens is that an alian dies and the blip stays there even after the alien is gone. WHen the alien respawns it makes a new blip, so if the process is repeated enough fun **** happens
Rename your NS directory to NS.BAK, then redownload and install a clean copy of NS 1.0 client. Let us know if things seem more stable in the MT icon department...
