    random resources?  Dunno about that, seems to me balancing the resource nodes could make or break a map... randomizing them could really suck.

    You can't target resource nodes. They're either there or not there, there is no toggle state for them. You also can't randomize the values they start with, that's also set in stone.

    True, but you could put some in alcoves that are walled off by func_wall_toggle entities that are randomly opened by the randomizer.
