<div class="IPBDescription">HLDS Crashes....</div> Hi,

i've got an Windows-Box running as a dedicated NS Server, but sometimes, the Server crashed with
this error message:

FATAL ERROR (shutting down): SZ_GetSpace: Tried to write to an uninitialized sizebuf_t:

Happens when the game is longer is in progress an lots of structures have been build.

The rate of crashes seems to increase as soon as metamod is used. Plugins itself doesn't seem to increase the effect furthermore.

Happens very often on mass build maps like NS_Siege005 or ns_vint004.

The Server itself is an Dual AMD with W2k Sp3, running NS on CPU 2 with high priority.

Any Ideas what is happing or if this have been recognized before?

And Btw, its NS 1.04

It seems to crash on those maps when you have a lot of turret(20+), it's related to NS i think.... turrets think too much with big rooms so they crash the server

Hmm, isn't the first time i've heard about this problem. What I don't understand, i could agree to the fact the server would become slower(indeed, it gets slower a lot, but still would be enough reserves here to play on), but if i get something that sounds to me like a buffer overrun, doesn't this seems to be a problem either in NS or in the HLDS code?

Yeah it's a problem in the NS code, hopefully Flayra will fix this.

The only time I've seen "uninitialized buffer_t" errors is when a server has bots running. An administrative program tries to send text or chat messages to them but there is no chat buffer/client so it crashes. Do you have bots running?

Sorry, no bots. This failure will even occur with a point blank server without any plugins. Using Plugins will increase the chance of failure slightly, but i think ist some kind of problem with the server side code..... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
