That's the original and real concept of the zergling. If you want to see the Ghost zergling, then wait (preferably quietly) for someone to make it or go play Ghost when that comes out. At the moment, this is a Ghost free zone.

From the concept art that jamil was talking about there is 1... well 2 differances from the ghost zergling and the concept art.

    1. The dorsal appendages have 2 small claws instead of one big one

    2. the concept art ling is fat and the ghost ling is skinny. Obiously the concept art is messed up because in every discription of a zergling you will ever read no were does it say zerglings are even close to being that fat.

    so they are basicly similier

That's the concept. There's the render which I talked about earlier in the manual. The render is what the in-game zergling was based off of. They took pictures of that model to make the sprites for the game. And It looks very close to TRK's model.

Its just... why did he put 2 sythes as the frount hands instead of what he saw in cancept art?

I thought that Zergling model he made came from a failed experiment....

Wow the same people have been arguing this ENTIRE day...

some people are not super-duper fascinated with details... he might have left them off, or opted out because of the Poly amount, the motivation he had, the skinning process, or maybe he just didn't care....

    LOL! Blow your mind! HAHAHAHAHA!

Anyways, Seeing that animated sprite i noticed the little claws for hands. I had always noticed the back apendages, but I didn't realized they used their hands for walking. I always thought zerglings were ugly kangaroos hopping around on their back legs. Wow, you learn something new everyday here!

you have no real modeling experiance, you have no skinning experiance, you have no animating experiance....

some of us DO have experiance in those areas, and know that a loss of acuracy, isn't a terrible thing, deveation from the beaten path can be a welcome change.

If Blizzard couldn't make up their minds (AND THEY made IT), who's to say which reference is right.......... that point ALONE makes your whole thread, your risk of a flame-war, and your time... a waste

I've seen modelers leave because of threads like this, the majority of it based on opinion...

if your opinion is "right" then you make it, but the modeler will make up their own opinion, and for that model, their opinion will be "RIGHT".... if that doesn't get into your mind, i give up...

whats the original source of that pic. it looks more like a fan concept art than actual blizzard art. and if it is a concept by anyone other than the poeple from stacraft ghost or blizzard than it is invalaid.

thats what i thought. i knew that wasnt a zergling i didnt what it was but i knew it wasnt blizzards. So in actuality blizzard isnt straying far from their original design. People are useing fan site images and passing them a real blizzard concept art which is why everyone is so confused.

That 1 looks the best out of all of them...
  • NightCrawlerzNightCrawlerz Join Date: 2003-04-18 Member: 15609Members
not if you want it to be a zergling. But as another model for somthing else then yes it would be pretty cool.

    - my last post concerning this issue -

The Modeler will chose the reference his/her uses
the artist will create his/her version
    Blizzard will make their version
    --------------------------------------------------

Blizard made the game "STARCRAFT" with certainconcepts, and without their original concepts, nobody can ever be wrong, or right....

starcraft:ghost is not the original game... thus having slightly different models and concepts....which means, there will be many views, opinions, and concepts...

the modeler is the one that choses the version of concept they use... end of story

IF hes gonna make a zergling, which is what i thought we all wanted, then he needs to follow the concept art. That picture that is black and white IS BLIZZARDS ORIGINAL CONCEPT ART. There it is thats what a zergling looks like. If he doesnt want to make a zergling then he can do what ever he wants.

actualy its a little to fat

(Note: "you" in this post is a general you. This is not directed at anyone in particular.)

If you don't like a model, make your own. Do not presume to tell a modeler how to do his work; that's like walking up to Picasso and telling him to use blue paint instead of green. Each model is a piece of art, and a LOT of work gets put into them. Respect that effort.

It may be that when the time comes to compile the Starcraft Conversion pack, there is more than one zergling model. In that case, you will have a choice which zergling you prefer. If there is no choice, you have no right to complain. Use the model, or don't.
