I saw this on Jediyoshi's sig, so i went there and started doing a tutorial, then i notice it says use the airbrush, so i look for it. Its not there?
Ive seen it before, but i cant find it. So i go to Imageready and find it there.
I start doing as the tutorial says, but using Imageready, it just doesnt work, its either to light, to dark, or a mixture of two colours.

There is most definitely an airbrush..look again..
On my version ( old one ), it's on the far left of the main toolbar, 3 spaces down, right next to the normal paintbrush..directly below the lassoo / polygonal select tool..
No offense like, but if you can't find the airbrush tool, I strongly suggest you start on "basic photoshop" tutorials first..get comfortable with the toolset and interface, then worry about making realistic textures etc..
If i press J, the patch tool pops up.
If i go to where you said the tool was, its the patch tool.
you neglected to mention which software program you were using, far less which version, of the software, so, y'know..
I still maintain that if you cannot find the airbrush, you need to go back and start at the beginning.
I'm not having a go, honestly, but all the photoshop questions I have seen you post are very basic questions, this suggests to me that you don't yet know your way around the software, hence my suggestion to go look at more "photoshop 101" type tutorials.

Edit: If you are using 7.0, have a look at this..

Using number 6 right now.
I have heard the vector tools are a bit better, dunno if thats important to you though.
It's not to me..if I want vectors I'll use Illustrator or something..
