Gamma Problems

I've been having this problem on all the official NS maps but not on any custom maps. When ever I try to play on a map that is official my gamma or brightness boost up really high and that causes my video card to slow down and basicly brings my fps down really low and I don't want that.
Specs: P2 400
512 SDRRAM
ATI Legacy FireGL2 Video Card
I don't really get the problem on custom made maps but it's just really weird because I play ns_seige005 and I don't get the problem at all. Can I please get some help with this?

The FPS jumps on the offical ones is probably b/c they are SOOOO much more complicated and large
remember, siege is 3 boxes, orginal HL maps have more detail and stuff in them.
the odd thing is that you are not getting the (fake) gama jump on the custom maps.
I say fake b/c it is probably the NS gama tweaker that is messing you up (it dosn't effect actual gama as far as I remember <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
hmm, have you tried updating your video card drivers?
are you running in OpenGL?
umm, yah, really not sure
though I still am rather sure the FPS jumps are from the complexity of the maps

Yes, I'm running in opengl
I've been getting this alot lately and no one is believing me at all about this. I get bad fps on official maps that have the gamma jump on them. I just don't know how to stop this gamma jump since I do not need it at all on the official maps since my monitor is bright enough for this thing. I just need a solution to my problem not something that cannot help me. I have my updated my video card what almost a month ago and this problem still seems to affect how I play now. I got the card for free but this is rediculous. Gamma can affect the fps I am most positive about that happened in some of my other games I use to play. Just all I need now is a solution and nothing else.
ok, you might be simply running your moniter to high in the first place try this out:
run this program:
C:\Games\SIERRA\Half-Life\ns\gamma_tune.exe (thats my path to it, you get the idea)
folow the directions, see if this fixes the gama issue.
Again,I believe your FPS problems are probably b/c of the details in these maps
