Tf And Sentry Placement

For example. In the map with the sat com and reactor room hive, If you place a TF in the center of the marine spawn ( the area is sunken down like 2 inches) you then cannot place any turrets outside that little octogon depressed area.

Also

How come in areas such as NS_Eclipse a lerk can shoot down into the computer core hive and hit everything but a Sentry turret cant hit (let aloone shoot or target) a lerk in the upper vent? This happens in many maps with vents. Same with the vent into the marine spawn in the map with the sewer hive. Lerks spike shoot all the turrets and the sentrys cant even target the vent. Even with the lerk's body half out and with a direct line of site.

I know Sentrys can shoot up because ive seen it before, so y do they have such a hard time with ceiling or elevated vents?

This seems to happen with marine small arms as well. I was crouching directly under a vent shooting straight up at the lerks half stuck out body and all my bullets either passed through the lerk or they "hit" the edge of the vent. I say "hit" because the vent ledge technically wasnt there. It was back further. Is this just like a hitbox/texture glitch or something else?

    Sentry turrets have a limited vertical range of motion. They can't fire over (IIRC) 35 degrees up or down. So a Skulk hanging on the ceiling will not get targetted. The vent in Comp Core is so high that it goes well over that 35* limit, unless you place the turrets well off to the side... the ramp in that room keeps them from being far enough away (dropping too low at the same time) that they can't fire into the vent.

    Pretty sure the marine spawn TF thing is just a bug though... that whole area seems a bit buggy, with giving orders and whatnot.

    And the Lerk hitboxes are the same as a crouched Marine for the time being... not sure if you were just hitting level geometry or if the Lerk's body is a bit far forward (akin to the Skulk).

    Actually, you CAN place turrets outside of that area. The game merely doesn't draw the green field to indicate this. Try it out =D
