Update: there is one (1 !!! ) cgi-created splice where the muffler rolls across the floor - they simply did not have enough room in that loft to fit the entire contraption into one take.

So amazing... definitely read the Daily Telegraph article - 607 takes!!!

Yeah i've seen this on TV over here
in the UK. Some of it doesn't make sense
(i.e round things rolling up hill, and there's also a
huge lack of momentum for some of those events to
be fully completed) but either way its
    a great attention grabbing ad.

Yea when i saw that too i thought... 'ahh its all CGI and special effects suff....!' But apparently those tyres did actually roll uphill!!!

They do so because inside they have been weighted with bolts and screws which have been positioned with fingertip care so that the slightest kiss of kinetic energy pushes them over, onward and, yes, upward. During the pre-shoot set-ups, film assistants had to tiptoe round the set so as not to disturb the feather-sensitive superstructure of the arranged metalwork. The slightest tremor of an ill-judged hand could have undone hours of work.

Awesome! It reminds me of an ace little film I saw when I was little, which was basically a series of chemical reactions setting each other off around a very large and intricately arranged chemistry lab.

Haha, I remember that game. It came with my old 95 PC, but it stopped working when we upgraded to Win98. I had some good times with that, lol.

Cool ad. I like the part with the nails swinging around. And that funny little walking robot thing.

I was discussing this advert (It is a UK advert) just the other day with my brother. The design and special effects company who did this advert, The Mill, are one of the best in the business. Also under their belt are Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, a Massive Attack video, and other such wonders for the eye. They have done quite a bit of other stuff too, which I am too lazy to look up. These guys consistently astound me, and when Monse is amazed by something even though its a British ad by a british company for a british car, it has to be good.

Oh, and its quite a nice car. Unlike you Americans, we didnt decide to set up our contry over vast deserts and wasteland, so we dont need Monster Trucks. We also prefer style to giant frickin' engines, and petrol economy to... say, invading Iraq to get more oil for the cars?

(oops, forgot to tell you the name of the design company)

Nah, that's the yuppies in their ugly-*ss SUVs, and the middle-aged morons compensating for their gonna-die syndrome by buying cars that were old when they were kids. The intelligent ones over here have the V6 engines that get upward of 50mpg, and are usually held in a hatchback-sized car.

No worries, we hate 'em too.

You had me there all the way until you called it a British car. When did Honda stop being Japanese? Just because they put the steering wheel on the wrong side doesn't make it a Mini, you chowderhead...

Yes, nothing says fuel economy like a British Jaguar. The new S-type gets a whopping 16 miles per gallon city. About half of the SUV models made in 2003 get better mileage than all Jaguars (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byclass.htm). And don't give me some line about Jaguar being owned by ford, it's still all the classic Jaguar 'craftsmanship'... ^_^

That's pronounced "Jag-hew-ah". At least, that lady on the television always calls it that.

Besides, North America is pretty big. Can't have lush farmland on every square inch of the place.

Whilst Honda is a japanese company the new Honda Accord was designed in this country and for the most part built in the UK. We brits do tend to get attached to cars that are even remotely british simply because we no longer have the car industry we used to have so many of us do go along with the asumption that Honda is British. (aha!... its designed here!! It MUST be british!) Strange I know but you cant knock one person for going along with the majority of the what the country thinks... Personally I call it a jap car though.
