Ok, this is sorta complicated:
First, you'll need to make a demo of the particular "half-life footage" that you want.
(<b>record demoname</b> in console)
Then, playback the demo
(<b>playdemo demoname</b>)
Then, when you get it queued up to the point you want to create your movie type this in console:
<b>startmovie x 30</b>
At this point, you're computer is going to hate you. It has begun to turn the demo into bitmap files(.bmp) at 30 snapshots per second. When you have what you want, exit half-life. (These snapshots will appear in your half life directory named something generic like <i>x00001.bmp</i>. You won't be able to miss them, as there should be ALOT of them. hehe)
Now this is the point where *you'll* have to seek other advice. There is a program called Videomach that can turn this into a video file. I've heard it can make .avi files in such fashion, which you'd then need a way to convert to mpeg (not sure if this is an included option in the Video Software) You can download VideoMach here:
<a href='http://download.pchome.de/download.php?SID=363&DID=1' target='_blank'>http://download.pchome.de/download.php?SID=363&DID=1</a>
Thats all the help I can be here. Not much. You'll have to read the documentation/play with the program to get it to to work. Or try some other program.
I didn't know there was a thread on that =/ Coulda saved me some time!
