Anavrin, why do you persist? Lerk spikes are hitscan, the dev team said as much. Ask them, or ask the moderators.
When someone told me to stop trying to compensate for the spikes' trajectory and just aim using the crosshair, my spike kill count went through the roof.
You know that very long stretch across the great viaduct hive (from viaduct access west to viaduct access east) in ns_nothing? I was spiking marines from across it. The entire length. Aiming directly at them with my crosshair. The spikes weren't even travelling a third of the distance before hitting the floor. The marines were still dying.
Anavrin and taleden, grow a brain.. or something..
They are hitscan. They hit instantaneously. The tracers are useless, pointless, a graphical glitch. Lerk spikes work exactly the same way the pistol works. Point and click = damage done immediately.

Romano- OC's are hitscan. The projectile is misleading much like lerk spike. I am pretty sure you can detonate mines with lerk spike but they are hitscan so....

it does nothing to vents on standard maps. "deathtogordon" said it depends on the map, inferring that on some custom maps it is possible for the designer to ahve made weldable points unweld via gorge spit, but ive never seen it happen.

Hitscan hits the moment you click the trigger lerk spikes are hitscan, if the marine is in your crosshairs, and you fire, they take damage instantly, the lerk spike animatons are being corrected in 1.1, something that isn't hitscan is like gorge spit, the glob has to hit them for it to do damage
heres a non ns specific analogy
hitscan=laser (the moment you fire, pretty much the moment it hits the target) not hitscan=sniper rifle (you aim, shoot, and then have to wait for the bullet to get there, even though it does it very fastm it still is not instant)

It depends on map
