UPDATE: We had to pull these scans at PC Gamer's request.
I hate to editorialize here, but I think giving Half-Life 2 "exclusives" to print magazines first wasn't exactly the smartest move. Who the hell reads 'em anymore? Circulation numbers are way down, you can get the same kind of content online more quickly and for free, and when mags do get a rare scoop, scans ALWAYS leak out. I'm sure you'll be able to find complete scans of the article elsewhere very shortly.
So instead of presenting nice, clean screenshots and well written articles to the online fans, the most hardcore fans of the game, we instead get lots of rumors, speculation, and horrible low-quality scans.

"Well we are all fans of Counter-Strike and the classic Super Nintendo title Contra III: The Alien Wars so we decided to combine them for Half-Life 2. Now you'll be able to run around blasting away the aliens that have invaded cities all over the planet. just like Contra!" - Gabe Newell
I click on every hl2 link i find and it all comes up with ad's. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
[edit]Damn , I knew i had a third pic different from those two but I can't find it.. bleh oh well[/edit]
That is the same one.
What the hell are they killing? Spiders?
Are there people that actually <b>help</b> you in Half-Life 2?
[Edit]Mmmm, maybe Monse should give credit from the site / magazine he got them from, no illegal business here.
Looks like a Prison is a part of the new adventures. Both shots (and some commentary) show jail cells all over the place... And that first pic looks like friggin FMV!!! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I actually think the 3 level prison shot looks way better than the first shot. I mean look at the walls BEHIND the monster.. so plain.. and... orange...
HL2's graphics do look outstanding though. I won't draw any conclusions just yet as scans are always the horrible of horribles, but it looks like it won't be as impressive as DOOM III's graphics (which I expected). But still both look simply amazing.
Actually Doomaniac, i think the Doom 3 graphics look a little too pre-rendered for my liking, but thats my opinion, but anyway, that first screen DOES look like FMV!
They both look too good to be true. That CAN'T be the HL2 engine. It looks like a picture taken from a movie shoot!
HOLY GRAPHICAL EYE-CANDY BATMAN!
I cannot BELIEVE that first pic, I took one look and thought "nah, it's from a movie" the I realised that OMG is was gameplay.
/me strokes his Geforce 4 Ti4200 and hopes like hell the old girl can handle it.
But oh MY can you imagine NS on that?! Flayra must be having puppies over the possibilities <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I know a similar, and better pic has been shown already, but take a look at the very bottem of the pic and keep in mind this quote I saw (no idea if its official or not)

Hey Max (Mellon)
If you're going to engage in copyright infringement by posting pages from PC Gamer magazine on this site, at least have the sense not to show your name and address on the cover scan. It just makes life so much easier for our lawyers who get very touchy about this kind of offense.
Thanks

ahahahahahahahahahha!
what a nub.
*Head explodes and chest caves in due to sheer awe*
And look more closely at the pics - dynamic lighting all over. Look at the shadows on the body of the guy in the first pic, and the reflection off his fiberglass helmet. And in the second pic, the pipe over the guard's(?) head looks like it's being illuminated down its length and gradually tapering off, from the weapons's muzzleflash.
I found another pic. Well actually I found about 8, but these are the only two that you can make something out in. The person who took these pics didn't have a scanner or even a digital camera. just a webcam. Guess its better than nothing though.
Get some scans of these, as they look interesting!
/me tries to console my poor Radeon 7000

I wish the major news sources like shacknews and phl would just kinda forget to monitor their forums for today to make this stuff easier to find ;)
