Well, i made another website design on Photoshop, but it looks wrong...

Its to wide and the space for the banner is to big.

Anyone know how to fix it? If so tell me or take this file and try and do it.

you want the space above the menu smaller right?

Select the area you want gone (square selector tool), and delete whats there, so you have the checkered transparency backround.

Go to Image>Trim, and select transparent pixels only.

It will remove the transparent pixels from the canvas, shortening the size.

    No, atm it is 700 x 1200 i think...

I want it to 500 x 1000 with the menu bar higher up.

I shrunk the canvas size to 500x1000 and moved everything in view, I scaled down the stuff that was cut off, and I moved the menu farther up.

I'll send the file in a sec...

EDIT: I'm gonna send the zip file to your hotmail email, is that ok?

Done the news box, do you like?

I like it a lot. But perhaps tone the shadow down a bit, perhaps give it a 0 px distance.

And the benevel and emboss option is good, but it should continue below the "news" bar and over the bar below. Try it, but it might as well look better the way you have it now.

And how about some benevel and emboss for the links, and perhaps seperating them from each other?
Somehting like this, if you want I could send you the .psd:

    1. How do you make lines look as if they go inwards...
    2. What shadow? The gaussin blar on the link lines?

I need a banner for the site now, so if anyone would like to make one, feel free.

Im thinking of where the glowing corners are, making lighting effects come from there... Good idea?

    1. what lines, if you double click on an layer in adobe photoshop you can select different layer styles. The "benevel and emboss" option is used to make things look 3d, I was presuming that was what you did with the news box. I suggested that you used the same options but seperated the two flicks where it says "news" and the one underneath the box to a seperate layer and use the same option on those. Post me a .psd if you want me to show you closer.

    2. There is a shadow cast by the the news box, that shadow.

    ...

So just make lines and bevel boss?
    k.

What about the news box though, make the light closer to the box so there is not so much shadow?
  • EplekongenEplekongen Join Date: 2002-11-16 Member: 8915Members
no, you can edit the shadows options the same way you do benevel and emboss. doubleclick the layer and select the "drop shadow" option, then edit the different options to your liking. there is one option there called destance, set it to 0 px and the shadow will go in all directions.

But I am not sure if that would make it look any better.

with proper benevel and emboss settings you might get something like this:
  • DunsbyDunsby Join Date: 2002-08-01 Member: 1042Awaiting Authorization
    Mines good as it is.

I just want it not to be as dark on the right hand side...
  • EplekongenEplekongen Join Date: 2002-11-16 Member: 8915Members
just edit the gradient then, but I think the colour looks good as it is. but I think you should have something dividing the links from each other, it give a better overview of the page.

    Ok ill do the links.

In the news box i used render>lighting effects, not a gradient.
