I like it a lot. But perhaps tone the shadow down a bit, perhaps give it a 0 px distance.
And the benevel and emboss option is good, but it should continue below the "news" bar and over the bar below. Try it, but it might as well look better the way you have it now.
And how about some benevel and emboss for the links, and perhaps seperating them from each other? Somehting like this, if you want I could send you the .psd:
1. How do you make lines look as if they go inwards... 2. What shadow? The gaussin blar on the link lines? 3. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

The "benevel and emboss" option is used to make things look 3d, I was presuming that was what you did with the news box. I suggested that you used the same options but seperated the two flicks where it says "news" and the one underneath the box to a seperate layer and use the same option on those. Post me a .psd if you want me to show you closer.
2. There is a shadow cast by the the news box, that shadow.
no, you can edit the shadows options the same way you do benevel and emboss. doubleclick the layer and select the "drop shadow" option, then edit the different options to your liking. there is one option there called destance, set it to 0 px and the shadow will go in all directions.
But I am not sure if that would make it look any better.
just edit the gradient then, but I think the colour looks good as it is. but I think you should have something dividing the links from each other, it give a better overview of the page.

Paste that in the adress bar to download the file.. Sorry it is winRAR.
Select the area you want gone (square selector tool), and delete whats there, so you have the checkered transparency backround.
Go to Image>Trim, and select transparent pixels only.
It will remove the transparent pixels from the canvas, shortening the size.
I want it to 500 x 1000 with the menu bar higher up.
Thanks for help.

Like this now?
Done the news box, do you like?

Im thinking of where the glowing corners are, making lighting effects come from there... Good idea?

So just make lines and bevel boss?
k.
What about the news box though, make the light closer to the box so there is not so much shadow?
But I am not sure if that would make it look any better.
I just want it not to be as dark on the right hand side...
In the news box i used render>lighting effects, not a gradient.
