<div class="IPBDescription">More (boring) screens</div> Once upon a time (a month ago), in a galaxy far far away (europe <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->), there was this guy. He was extremely bored this day, so he decided to make a map for NS. He'd been sniffing around on the forums, and heard the ?ber-master-mappers say "Don't map for NS if you're n00b!", but this guy gave it a try anyway.
He toyed around with hammer for some time and created the famous "ns_roomwithlight" and
"ns_roomwithdoor" and so on.

And now, he thinks it's time to post screenies of his ns_noname (roomwithhive <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

It's no longer a box all covered in floor_daimond (the first ones was <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->), today he uses null <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

<a href='http://kayell.topcities.com/' target='_blank'>http://kayell.topcities.com/</a>
(How the **** do u put images in the post??? The guy had to spend 1 full ouhr today, learning how to create a home page to get theese pics online!!! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Plz, tell me what u think, and plz, don't just: "For a first map, it's very good!".

I would like to know how to make it better.

The guy himself thinks the textures are too big, everything is too dark, the r_speeds are too high (350, 580 if u try real hard), and that the room is just plain ugly! <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

(Oh, post somethin useful and u can laugh really hard at my fps <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

(Sorry for all the typos <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    the texturing and the geometry look really good. I'm not a big fan of that beam texture, but that may just be me. The lighting is pretty freaking bland though. Are you using any env_gamma? That alone could help immensely. Maybe make the lights on the floor brighter, and more yellow or something. For r_speeds, turn on gl_wireframe and see what's cutting up your bsp the most, then make the offending brush a func_wall. If you haven't already you'll need to make the beams func_seethrough, and that could help a bit.

    gl_wireframe2 shows you what causes the high r_speeds.
    converting that lights into func_wall or func_illusionary brushes helps.
