Optical Mouse Pads?

<div class="IPBDescription">Help me please!</div> I am getting this mouse here: <a href='http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006HZ0K/104-0364248-6158377?v=glance&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&st=electronics' target='_blank'>http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...&st=electronics</a>

And am curious what kind of mouse pad I should use. I have heard of mouse pads made just for optical mice. Do regular ones work well? And also where could i get a decent anti-carpal tunnel wrist rest for a mouse. Please help me out here.

I just use my physics textbook and it seems to work just fine(cept it spazzes out once in a while because the time-lapse photography on the cover is tricking my mouse).

    1000 post madness!

I'd search for a fractal mousepad, myself. By their nature, the mouse can't mistake one spot for another, with the refresh rates in use. Avoid flat-color surfaces, and anything shiny/reflective as it'll decrease the mouse's accuracy. A staggered-dot and/or grid surface of the kind used for the first optical mice (which REQUIRED a mousepad they couldn't get 'lost' on) is also very helpful. Not sure where you could pick one up, but I know places must sell 'em.

I'm just using the free Max Payne mousepad that you got with the game.

Works fine, but I'm having other mouse issues with HL mods that I can't figure out. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I don't use any mouse pas with my optical mouse because the wood-like desk is good for the mouse. If you have something like that the mouse will just work fine and you'll have much more place to move it.

WOOOOEEE boy, are you lucky. I just finished my pages long scientific report on optical mice pads, experiments and everything. I even tested everything in game.

Result: Use ANY MOUSE PAD that is not see through or reflective, or white. Cheers.

    And i'm one of them.

I was originally using an Everglide Giganta (With MS intellioptical), when my last system came with a func mousepad thrown in. I wasn't expecting anything from a freebie and wasn't expecting it to replace my everglide, but it turned out to be an excellent surface.

    Recommended.

I just use my desktop surface for my Intelli-mouse.
I can also use it on my leg/cat/head. Great mouse.

Yup, that's what I have and I find it great. No need for a mouse pad.
PS: It works on black surfaces too
