do read
don't use capslock
Modelling does involve several 1000 hours of reading. If you were smart, you would've stayed in school. Modelling isnt a job for a school drop out who doesnt like to read. Now get your **** back to school.
.... I wonder why you dropped out of school. and now you expect to be able to do modeling without reading any vitale information in turtorials ??
good luck !

stay in school....
"Can you guys teach me how to model with 0 effort provided by me?"
I doubt you'd even be willing to model even after you've learned.
"It takes too much time to model"
Programming has been a hobby of mine for a long time. I have a collection of books that I've paid for and read. They fill up my bookshelf and some can be over 500 pages long and costing upwards of 60 bucks. You get 0 sympathy from me, because you're too lazy to get off your bum.
Heh heh.

get back in school u fOOL...
read the top forums to see tips for modelling.
Not to flame, but merely to be a concerned, rational adult... stay in school. That goes for anyone. And to you, Snake, I'd really suggest seeing a psychologist. It sounds to me like you have difficulty focusing on things and achieving goals that you set for yourself, or that others give you. Talk to your parents, or a counselor, or something. And go back to school. You'll thank yourself in ten years when you have a job you don't despise.
No, it's not. But it's required if you want to get a high paying job.

I have only read one crappy tutorial but I can model fairly well!
Would need to read some more anyway....
Try different stuff and learn by your mistakes... or whatever it is old people say.
Reading is important. No reading = no learning from books, no workin through tutorials, no ability to rtfm. Doesn't matter how bright you are, a lack of reading skills makes almost everything harder than it needs to be.
Practical skills are vital in any area, but reading a book on the subject is usually a great help too.
Perhaps you're mechanically minded? Gonna be a helluva lot easier to fix that car if you can read the Haynes manual.
Into cooking? Again, while you can wing it, far easier with a recipe to follow..
Maybe you like sports? Gonna help to read books on tactics, theory, nutrition, proper warmups and techniques for injury prevention.
Great thing about books is they tend to be written by people who know more about the subject than you. You can normally benefit from their years of experience and research, without making the same stupid mistakes they had to.
Trust me on this one.
Back to school.
modeling is not the hard part. theres hundreds of people you probably know that can modle, its a matter of sticking polygons together and then poking them with a stick. anyone can do that. the hard part is aligning it with the HL engine and getting your model turend into something HL likes. this is where a lot of people fall short. I still cant figure out how to animate and complie correctly.
it would be great if you people would actually put out viable information when asked a question instead of linking to the stickey
and in his defense, i read that damn post 9 times and still can't figure out how to animate stuff, skinning can be showed to my by a friend but casual 3dsM modelres that just make things like tres and boats for fun cant show you how to turn things into HL models.
How do you get just plain NS arms to put on your gun? Is there an easier way than decompiling the v_lmg model and deleting the gun from the hands?
but that held a little special meaning for us, we were only 50 miles away... a little closer to home than most of the country.
35 pills a day... as mature as a 10 year old (8 years behind...makes for one hell of a fun time somedays)
