<div class="IPBDescription">Sigh... all those years</div><!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo--> after 5 years, a great buddy of mine has passed away: my CD burner.

Sigh...
after upgrading my system(s) slowly over the years, he was the one component that stayed constant...

my first comp was a 486/33 with the 3.5" and 5.25" floppies... the 5.25 were chucked for good ol' Phil(ips), a 4x read, 2x write CD burner.
when we upgraded to a P2 450, Phil was there, burning along (albiet, a little slowly compared to others out there).
Even in the athlon 900Mhz he was transferred in.
And when I built my own Athlon 1800 XP? Phil was right there, still burning  my muzak and gamez...

he passed away tonight... something shorted out on the board in Phil, and he parted with a little wisp of smoke and the smell of burnt plastic.

Sigh... good bye Phil. It's been a great 5 years. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

I think I shall place him as a book end on my shelf as a memorial to his hard work over the years.

Damn. now I've gotta go out and buy a new CD-Burner. before saturday

    Alas, I share your pain. My zip drive that we bought when they first came out and that has been in use sice to transfer info between my friends and I, passed away last month. He was enver named, merely an extension of Flavius' persona (my computer). We will miss you both, Phil and uh . . .Sam. Yeah . . Sam.
