    Heh, if that's the case, it's too bad he quoted the wrong part of the expression. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    - "arigato" is part of the Japanese expression "arigato gozaimasu", which means "thank you".
    - "domo arigato" is slightly more formal and translates as "thank you very much".

    Therefore, "domo" would logically mean "very much". <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I really should get back into learning Japanese. I used to study it about a year ago, but too many things ended up pushing it to the 'non-priority' list. I'm not even 100% sure if "domo" would translate - it's probably just part of the expression that has no meaning other than in its intended purpose.

    uhh, from what I remember...Domo means thank you, Arigato is the adjective kinda thingy

    Domo Arigato (Thank you very much)
    Arigato gozaimasu (thank you, but traditionally reserved for feminine case. Domo, also pronounced go-zay-mas)

    I'm not even sure that what I posted was correct, so you may be right. I haven't even looked at Japanese in at least a year, so I'm a definetly out of practice. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I've always thought the addition of "domo" to the expression made it into a more 'formal' expression ('thank you very much'). I'll have to dig up my old notes, find out where I left off, and try to get myself back into that mindset before answering for sure. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Domo, is basicaly 'slang'(informal) though not really (it is one of those widely accepted ones, and thus isn't really slang, sorta like thanks, it isn't "proper" but it is ok)

    it can be ussed for a few things, the most common if a quick way pf saying thank you, it also can be ussed for i am sorry (as opposed to gomen, or gomenasai (sp?) if you are being a cute female <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
