Actually, these binds are standard/default for Natural Selection. For as long as I can remember I've been using F1 and F2 to join Marines and Aliens, and I am sure I certainly didn't bind them myself!
I suspect that this may be a problem with Natural Selection (F1-F2 keys not working), and they only work for me because I got a 'fix' for it (although I'm not sure exactly how it does what it does).
