<div class="IPBDescription">...or why i'm not around much.</div>For anyone interested, my website <a href="http://tald.readyroom.org" target="_blank">The Art of Level Design</a> has been updated. No new screenshots or anything fun, but it basically explains the situation I'm in with my NS level Space Station Nothing, and why I haven't been posting around here much lately.

If my signature wasn't a big enough hint, things are going rough. It was all good up until a couple days ago... It's not the new deadline that's getting at me. I had predicted and planned for that... It's just this flood of problems suddenly appearing. Anyways, <a href="http://tald.readyroom.org" target="_blank">here's</a> where you should go if you are at all interested.

    Ken - I too have not been interacting with the forums much, nor really the IRC for that matter.     You still hold the title as my favorite style and look in a NS map! I really look forward to seeing your work completed!

    Good news:

    That is after some detail reductions that I did (as well as some reductions from the wonderfully helpful Ekaj).

    Bad news:

    My readyroom and one hive room are still temporary so far. I need a lot of resources for both of those rooms. Oh, and I still need a few alien vents.

    Really though, this is managable. I even tried scaling the textures on every surface all the way up to 100, and that had absolutely no effect (I was still 5500 over the leaves limit). So basically, reducing detail is going to have to be the way to go. I hate the thought of it, but it's going to have to happen. I thought of the possibility of cutting a few entire areas... but then I would have to patch everything up, and the level's been through that too many times already.. It just can't handle any more simplifications in the layout. At least not in two weeks.

    But anyway, I basically have a playtestable version now. All that needs to be done is some lighting tweaking, and then I can send it off. THEN... I need to kill enough detail to make room for final versions of my readyroom and hive room... and add sound, and particle systems, and more sounds, and more particle systems, and more sound, and I think you get the picture. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
