My friends computer
Ok, my friend has a laptop, I don't know the exact specs, but here are some:
1.1 Ghz Intel Celeron Prcsr
Some el-cheapo graphics card meant for playing Dvds, etc 1024*768 resolution
And that's about it.
The Problem:
When he runs any HL mod, he gets bad fps, wether it be OpenGL, D3D, or even Software *cough* AND, when he changes the game resolution, he gets a smaller screen
I have tried everything, console commands suck, and "Trident" the gfx card company doesn't support laptop users with updates, and getting anywhere on Toshiba.com isn't possible. So I thought I'd ask here.
One of the first things I tried (before we both got interested in HL) as under the adv. properties of his card. I saw an option called "Strech display". I turned it on, we then ran "DFLW" (the game, 'back in the day' lol) to see if it would strech his display, nope. I went back into the adv. properties and it had become unchecked, so after multiple tries, I found out it unchecks itself no matter what I do.
Then when we started to try other options. Just the other day, we tried adding a custom entre into the gldrv/drvlist (or whatever it is). "gldrv/opengl32.dll OpenGL32" and this increased his fps a little. But I just can't seem to squeese fps out. Any idea's?

Unless you get a new graphics upgrade (not likely on a laptop) you'll have to live with Software mode.
Use Software mode and use as much of the 1.1ghz grunt as u can.
That and most of them are made by dell, HP, compaq and other illegal companies who charge 5x the true cost of hardware, then add labour on top.
My opinion? Use the laptop for Office and get a good gaming rig.
get a desktop

This probably applies to unreadably small and yellow fonts too, just FYI...
