<div class="IPBDescription">NS, CS, TS2 and Homepage Server</div> hey ladies,
I´m thinking about buying a root server and wondering which hardware i probably need.
On both servers i want to run:
1 CS Server (maybe 16 slots, pw Server except weekend)
1 NS Server (13 slots, constant pw)
1 TS2 Server (about 16 slots, pw)
and I will run my homepage on it.
So im thinking about 2 offers.
CPU: Duron 1300 || Athlon XP 2000
RAM: 256 MB DDR || 512 MB DDR
HD: 40.4 GB || 80.4 GB
traffic: 150GB || 200GB
OS is: Suse Linux 8.1 PREM. ED. 2003
Both are connected to a 4.3 GB connection in Düsseldorf/Germany.
So i´m wondering if the RAM of the first server isn´t to less for me.
On the other side i want to know if someone knows how much traffic NS uses per player. I think its more than CS but don´t have an idea how much more.
So, sorry about my bad english, i gave my best <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Hope someone can answere this questions to me.

anyways, i would like to help but i dont know much about linux and athlon. sorry
So I think Athlon 1300 is nonsense.
I would spend some more time waiting for reports of admins runnig servers with 1.1 before spending 169 Euro on getting a server at server4free... that can only handle 8 Players...

I seriously suggest you go for >2GHz and >512MB RAM too, you *might* be able to run an NS server and a CS server on that but it's not guaranteed.
NS 1.04 sucks CPU like nothing else.
There is no formula for Players=%CPU because HLDS gets funny after 22 Players.
