Just A Question...

before i say anything, just letting everyone know to please excuse my ignorance if i say anything that is blatantly obvious to everyone else, i'm not really a gamer, or message-board type person. but i didn't see another post pertaining to this type of question, so i figured i'd ask.

i wanted to ask, i know that v1.1 is coming out soon, and that certain people are beta testing. i personally think watching others play NS is almost as fun as playing(actually, i started playing after watching my boyfriend become addicted. it looked fun, and i then got hooked, too.) i was wondering(and again, forgive me if this is a stupid question), is there anyway that others could spectate while the beta testing was going on? i was thinking this might help to quell the curiosities of those not being involved in the testing. i'm not sure if v1.1 is going to have an option to observe, as the last version did, but it would be great if we could at least watch the said goings-on. i'm assuming the new version will, since most half-life mods do and since the last one did. although, i'm not sure how many people could spectate, if you were using the space for actual players. perhaps a few days before 1.1 is set to be released, it would be possible to hold a few games and let others spectate?

Would be nice, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, for this to be possible would require the beta files to be freely downloadable to the spectators... at which point, why not just officially release the patch?

In the meantime I guess we'll have to make due with screenshots and tester war stories. A "media blitz" will supposedly be happening in a couple weeks, which should include movies and other misc. goodies.

Hum, have a HLTV server that the masses can join and watch in on?
And get an idea of how incomplete it is, or look for bugs while you guys are playing it, or suggest exploits...

It would probably require the beta files to be openly downloadable, but you don't need to send them the files that let you host a server. So without a server, you can't play, and with the actual game server closed then there's nothing to worry about

to make such a spawn version would take even more time from the mod itself to be released, so i doubt the devs want to do it. and hltv isn't implemented in 1.0, maybe for next release <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

You need all the client files in order to be able to spectate, which means you need 1.1 in order to spectate. So, basically, any spectating by the general public is out of the question, unless they'd rather watch us play right after the release instead of playing themselves.

BTW, this really belongs in General more than in this forum here.
