Parasite And Sof

Planned Obsolescence?
Seeing as SoF is supposedly ridiculously awesome (according to the PT's and vets), what does this mean for parasite? Is it obsolete? Is it a trivial ability now that every alien can see marines from far off? Should its effect be changed to complement the new balance and strategy of 1.1?

It's still pretty useful because it allows you to monitor marine movement far away from your position.

Does parasite still have limited range? What was the purpose of limiting its range anyway?

The purpose i believe so that the rines had a better chance at kiling the skulks thus making the skulk take a risk for the rest of the hive so they will know the rines postion and so they can "monitor them"

is the pheremone trail going to be kind of like the jet pack fuel trail in a diffferent colour, or will it be something completely different?

Actually, it was implemented due to some crashes connected to 'max visible sprite' errors. No idea whether that got remedied.

Its still quite useful. You can:

Annoy a marine by parasiting, running, parasiting, running, etc

Usefull all the time, such as times when Sensory chambers aren't present

And parasite is still permanent until death?

There's no problem, what are you talking about??? It's a COMBO!!

The skulk gets SoF. Sees where marines are. Sneaks up and parasites them. Alien team can see marines.

Using the new movement changes is the parasite machinegun feasible?

Actually, since SoF is a sensory upgrade, quite a few amount of people still like cloaking. Parasite is a good way for people using SoF to parasite entire teams of marines, providing great information for the whole team.

I'd say that kind of teamwork is exactly how Flayra envisions v1.1!
Parasite is definetly one of the strongest tools the aliens have.

Either i have miss read something or there is actualy no point in "Pheromones" when u can have SoF or they are just the same.

SoF shows marines through walls, pheremones help you track them in plain sight, but like low visibility. just follow the trail.

personally depending how it comes out - i think i may prefer to use the pheromones regardless of how good it is relative to sof. it just seems lots more fun/like hunting. seems like a good plan to me
