Does the standard cloaking sound play when an alien steps in range of a sensory chamber?

While under a Sensory's influence, how long does it take for an alien to recloak after he attacks?

no he doesnt play the cloak sound at all, and it takes maybe 3 seconds to fully recloak. Dunno though since i never actually timed it, but thats a rough guess.

OK So I've seen that aliens and structures will uncloak when touch, does this mean that if an alien runs into an alien structure it will uncloak?

    I seriously hope not.

They only uncloak when marines hit them.

Q- Do the Veteran playtesters get motion tracking ASAP, and is it too powerful?

You'll need to upgrade each individual structure.
    <!--QuoteBegin--MagiTek+ May 15 2003, 02:28 AM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (MagiTek @ May 15 2003, 02:28 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
Has there been any delay added to when a person can fire after filling up at the armory?

No change that I'm aware of.

(1)Q: does the obs uncloak sens chambers, or just regular 'upgraded' cloak?
(2)Q: is the annoying cloak-uncloak when near an obs adressed? (really hard to hide with all the wooshes)
(3)Q: will researched upgrades still be available after the building (arms/obs) have been destroyed?
(4)Q: does the build-limit still exist? (max no. of chambers reached)
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    1 - unsure
    2 - Thats the point!
3 - MT will, nothing else
4 - Yes, marines also have mine limit and possibly a building limit (seems to be a bit buggy right now). <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
@2 -> I didn't mean the uncloaking itself, but in 1.04 when you have the cloak upgrade and you're in range of an obs it's cloak->uncloak->cloak->uncloak->cloak->uncloak and so on, with the woosh sound, it's just really onnoying, I don't mind the uncloaking, hell, most of the time u play without cloak anyway (3d hive <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> )

But u can't even ambush marines anymore, because they'll just hear the *wooshing* from the cloak vs uncloak battle

but if I fail to see the point, please, somebody shoot me

as with most tech its not ALWAYS grabed but weither or not its underpowered or over powered doesnt matter since that will hopefully be changed to be fixed.

MT is the counter to the kharaa running around within sensory range cloaked. It's quite needed, I'd imagine. Otherwise, the marines wouldn't have a chance when around sensory chambers. You can't scan all the time, so you'd be stuck.

MT is usually gotten, right now movement is the chamber of choice and silence is lethal against marines with no MT

I think I like the Energy/MT idea... sounded the best =P

I think by asking if MT was the upgrade of choice, he meant to inquire about the time of its implication. ie. if it comes into play mid-game, you rush to tech it, or what?

I assume it's situational, cuz if aliens went DChamer, it would have much of its benefit driven from it.

As a side note, I would like to ask about Marine Play:
Is it even fun after the initial 'scaryness' of silence and cloaked deaths wears off? I mean it really does seem that Marine play got shafted and that Aliens got a major fun boost.

The most frightening deaths I've experienced involved the following:

-Silent lerk spiking me (no projectile animation anymore, so you have no idea where its coming from in a lot of cases)
    -Silent skulk biting
-Running into a room with some expensive equiptment only to have 8 offense chambers materialize around me.
-Seeing a cloaked motion tracking circle and not the lifeform! eek.. Spray & Pray!

it seems that the marines didnt get any new stuff.

Q: does the new commander interface help with coordination so immensely that the marines didnt need new stuff to balance 1.1?

    Three questions:

    1. Does silence get rid of the gorge's building sound?
    2. Do Movement chambers still teleport you to the farthest hive?
    3. Is there any way to give energy or speed up energy flow to an observatory other than waiting for it to recharge normally?

The marines were already more powerful than the aliens if played properly, hence big balance changes towards aliens. Also, it sounds like playing as marines will be more co-ordinated more of the time on a public server with the new comm functions, and you'll see HA used a lot more with its cheaper, faster research and lower price per item. Also, shotties will be used in conjunction with HMGs instead of the HMG-solves-everything situation now.

All that is conjecture, natch, as I'm not a tester/vet, but still. Sounds good to me.

p.s. all the fun in playing marine came from the aliens anyway...

Quick question to the vets that seem to be pretty active here (thank you!): You've said that MCs are the chamber of choice, do you see that happening on public servers with the cara=slow thing and the vast boosts to the other chambs? And similarly, why is it exactly that DCs aren't the choice in your games? Because you'd rather have silence, rather avoid carapace, or both?

    cheers

i believe mc are the chamber of the week because they allow the gorge not only silence when sucking but alsp a quick getaway should he be discovered. the 2nd best for a gorge would be sensory.
  • EatsEats Join Date: 2002-10-24 Member: 1582Members
def is better then sensory for the gorge. and I wrote a big thing on why mc's are better all around. Check it out:
