I think The Matrix was kind of doomed from the start in some respects. The first film was innovative both in plot and style. Trying to recapture that with the same story and effects was doomed from the start. I'll see it and enjoy it, but the thrill of discovery that the orignial Matrix accomplished is impossible to replicate. Sure, there will be plot twists and the like, but nothing compared to the bombshell the Brothers dropped 30 minutes into the first film (This world is not real)...

i agree the sex-scene was gratuitous.. but whatever.. i'm sure it appeals to most people out there..

overall i liked the movie very much.. i thought it was very entertaining. i missed out on some lines though.. the most difficult part to follow was neo and the architect's dialogue, so i think i'll try and see it again with my dad this weekend.
oh yeah,...did anyone catch some of the animatrix stories tie into the movie? the skate boarding kid was in the movie.. remember him kissing neo's butt all over zion. and the message sent to zion from the osiris, made it to zion. yay.. so the crew's death wasn't a waist.
those are the only two animatrix stories i saw tie into reloaded. any other ones?

OMG, there are people saying the sex scene was "gratuitous"? Are you on crack? I thought that was the most brilliantly done scene in the movie. It was showing us that Zion is everything that the Matrix is not, and it was showing us the essential human side of Neo and Trinity, which we don't generally see when they're being superheroes. Out of all the scenes in the movie, that was the one that gave me the most respect for the Wachowskis, because it was one of the very few sex scenes I've ever seen that was actually artistic instead of gratuitous. It fit PERFECTLY in the movie.
Oh, and I thought Persephone wanting to kiss Neo was pretty cool too. It was really interesting to see a "human" side to the machines as well, even if it was in a really warped way (which is fitting). We see some of that with ex-Agent Smith too, in the way that he suddenly developes a bizarre sense of humor ("Me, me me." "Me too!") and has this weird Oedipal complex with Neo (that's my theory as to why he wants to kill him, anyway, since Neo made him what he is).
