My understanding was that the minimap was supposed to function just like the commander's overhead, in that it would show structures, motion tracking, enemy buildings ect. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen.

I think scent of fear is almost just as good as MT, because for example if you were in a hive, and anotehr alien was camping next to the marine base, YOU would see all the marines in the base on hivesite because the marines were in the range of the OTHER alien's scent of er. What this means is that every alien with the SOF upgrade becomes an obs with legs.

I dont think that it works like that, because actualy, with the current scent of fear, only you see the marines, other aliens not.
But it would be great if it was like that.. a alien team with one Scent of fear alien (perhaps the lerk, he is already the supporter) and then the whloe group has scent of fear.. would be nice, would make better teamwork

This is a quote fromt he 1.1 changelog:
Changed behavior of "Scent of Fear". Any enemy players within range of a player show up on hive sight (as if they were parasited). Each level increases range.
\endquote\
I read this and interpret it as what I said above. I could be wrong though (I hope I am wrong)
I prefer aliens, and that being so I personally hate MT because its better then hivesite and parasite, it ruins all attempts at stealth & hiding, and it takes away my right to be a n00b and accuse people of being hackers (^.^). However on one server I played on it had an intresting mod for MT, it no longer showed up on your hud but instead let out a beeping noise, so it didnt exactly say where something was, but it let you know to keep your gaurd up.

The mini map for the marine team should = commander's mini map, once they get MT.
