"****! I saw we do this. Me, Spin, and Tiber will go in, do a really fast **** of Silent in the confusion that the siege will create when it fires, and then run like hell out. Then, we'll regroup, and then get a formal spotting team out there. Any objections?"
*waits for objections*
"Its gonna work. Most of the Kharaa will die from splash damage or be really scared shitless by the loud noise, at least for the few seconds it takes for us to grab Silent and run."

*Ed pockets the disk, and gets back to digging, eventually, Ed finds a boot...*

*I hold down trigger to LMG, then realize both it and my other arm are trapped in something*
"No! I will not --"
*I try moving my body. Nothing. Then I hear Boggle talking and realize what my more free arm is being clamped by.*
Gasping for air "Boggle, quit yanking me. I... <cough>"
*View gets brighter as junk is pulled away, but even with my head freed entirely, it's still too blurry to make out shapes -- much less people. One of the shelving supports has been thrust into my chest so hard that the only thing keeping my lung pressure stable are the dog tags jammed in, covering the hole.*
"I feel something in my...<gurgle>. How bad is it?"

"Wow, thanks man. This thing got friendlyfire?"
*unslings LNG and passed it to Ed*
"It sure as hell aint as good as Wynona, but at least you can still shoot at the bad guys."
*looks at Marik with a shelf embedded in his chest*
"Oh, jeebus. Sorry guys, I think I'm needed here more than there. Terran, you'd better take this."
*gives Wynona and spare clips to Terran, then touches headset, talking quietly*
"Commander, do we have any way of getting Marik back to the station? I don't think he's going to make it if we can't. And this one medpack sure as hell isn't going to be enough to heal that."
*kneels next to Marik*
"It looks pretty bad, but I think you'll be OK. Try not to move, I've asked the commander for some more medpacks and if we can get you back to the station's medical facilities." 
Bah, this is what you get for trying to play in Australia. You miss all the americans posting in the morning.

*Waves free arm around a bit to feel around torso, and grasps the pipe-like shelf support still against it. Brings hand back to lick off the blood, then coughs again.*
"Any sort of adhesive tape should help out with the breathing, and when we can afford the medpacks it'll help it heal a lot faster. Right now I'm more afraid about my eyesight. Might just be blood loss, so I think I'll hold off trying to stand up to check if my legs are OK."
*Tries to wiggle feet.*
"Jeez, don't you just hate it when you've got an itch you can't reach? As soon as I get both legs out of here, I'm reaching back in to get my gun."

"Ed? Jammer? We got any adhesive tape floating around here? And I'm gonna need that medpack, too. Sorry Ed."
*unhooks Ed's medpack from his belt and pours some of the contents around the dog tags, then injects the rest into Marik*
"If I can get that wound to seal under the dog tags, then you should be right. I don't think this one medpack will do the trick though, that's a serious injury."
*touches headset*
"Commander, can I have one more medpack down here?"
*grinning* "We're turning into an expensive bunch of marines here."

"Comm, either have me stationary at whatever firebase you set up while I was asleep, or give me a medpack with a couple extra doses of morphine. I'm sure as hell not having someone sit around babysitting me by this pile of rubbish if I can be more <cough> productive."
*Tries again to feel around chest*
"As soon as my eyes are good enough again to clearly see this thing, I'm using it as a splint for my leg. I don't want to be slowing you guys down any more than I have to."

*hands Night Shade the duct tape, recieves Wynona from Terran, looks over at Karma and Marik*

"Hey Karma. Prop yourself up against the armory and keep us covered, would ya?"
*to Marik* "We're at the firebase now. The commander set it up right after that fade got the jump on you. Now, I want you to take a deep breath and hold it. As for the medpacks, you've already got the contents of one in you and I've radioed for more."
*takes duct tape from Ed, and watches as Marik draws breath, grimacing*
"Now cross your fingers and pray this doesn't give you pneumothorax."
*Pulls off the dog tags and seals the wound quickly with the duct tape, placing one hand on Marik's chest*
"Okay, breathe out...breathe in...out again..."
*Watches Marik's chest rising and falling reasonably normally*
"You're breathing fine. You've got a couple cracked ribs and I don't want you moving until the medpacks seal that wound, in case the duct tape unstickies itself. Just take it easy, we'll keep you covered."
*Recovers his LMG from Ed*
"You won't be needing that anymore, now you've got Wynona back. Now give me a hand and we'll get this damn shelf off Marik."

With a loud crash, what remains of the shelf falls back to the ground as Ed and Night release it.
*moves into position near a turret, and touches headset*
"Commander, I know you're busy keeping an eye on the rescue squad but we could really do with another medpack down here."

A few medpacks fall to the ground. But the clatter of medpacks is accompagnied by a deep chuckle from the vent above, the one the late lerk was sitting in when it screamed.
