i used to be an admin for the Kazaa Lite guys so i thought i'd sahre something which is a life saver for us...

it is called Sig2DAT now if you have half finished downloads you'll notice they have a DAT file for each file..

simply put..

when 1.1 is released... ill do my best to DL a copy ASAP and put it on kazaa and then what i do is use a program built into kazaa lite (NOT normal kazaa)
called a K-dat which means you can turn links into those DAT files.. in other words you can get the EXACT version of the one i have...

for e.g

if i was to put up an episode of friends and i run it through sig2dat i would get a random lot of info...

like :

File: Friends - 101 - Pilot.avi
Length: 117977088 Bytes, 115212KB
UUHash: =S8hsFRuHtrQFq58jEhj+ofMudZI=

that isnt a working hash it is an example..

you thwen just copy that (all 3 lines) and paste it into 'sig2dat' and then next tiem you boot up kazaa lite that will be on your 'traffic' tab and it will start DLing...

there are ways to ensure your files are real... you just need to know how to do them <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

so if i get anyone asking i will make the sig2dats when it is released...

Heh, in layman's terms:
When 1.1 comes out there'll be a lot of peopel wanting it, causing massive need for bandwidth. The best place for bandwidth is file sharing programs. The problem with this is that some ppl may have a file called "NS 1.1.exe" that is a virus. However some files can be "hashed" or uniquely characterized by some number/letter/character cominbations. Any file with this specific hash is legit. He'll pot this hash so we know the real NS 1.1 and a virus.

Or, you can just use eDonkey/eMule, which comes with unique file identification hashes by default, allows for segmented multidownloading, and allows you to share/upload even if you don't have the full file yet. Imagine Kazaa, Limewire, Bearshare, or WinMX, mixed with BitTorrent.. but you know that the file you're getting will be the one you're looking for, will NOT be corrupted (as happens a lot with particularly large files) and will go faster with the more people who are downloading it at a given time.

I'll probably share a copy on eMule, and post the ID hash-link to the forums. (Oh.. I mention that they browser-integrate? Click an eDonkey link on a site, and it'll automatically load that file profile into your for-transfer queue)

So where is this K-dat thingy? Cuz I have this sig2dat program already but it didnt seem to work by itself :/

Of course, there's the fact that Sig2Dat is constantly resident in your computer's memory as an active process, regardless of whether or not it's actually doing something. It's a program that we in the IT industry call a 'crapplet'. A good example of another crapplet is that horrid WeatherBug.

I think the devs should release an offical bit torrent on this site, and just that. it will save a lot for them on bandwidth and let fileplanet etc. but i doubt that will happen, bit torrent is the best app. for a first day release because as more people jump on the torrent the more bandwidth that will be available. from my use of downloading with bit torrent, the largest amount of bandwidth ive seen in total has been equal to about 1.5 megs a second, im curious to how much the ns community can push out, of course later like a day or two links could be put up on the site to download directly from other places. oh well thats what i think. Good luck seeing microsoft actually adopting bit torrent directly into IE i just cant see anything like that happening.

i mean.. who knows.. if it helps even 1 person DL it nicely and with ease then it is doing a good job..

ok i dont know much about emule... but yeh Sig2dat works..

you would copy those 3 lines and thne in sig2dat just hit 'paste from clipboard'

then it should put the stuff in..

now exit both kazaa and sig2dat then restart kazaa and it will be on your downloads when you go back in <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

also quick note!

if you do decide to hunt down a good p2p program and decide on byuing something like KaZaa Gold. DONT!

same with Kazaa Lite Gold all the GOLD packs are little c()nts who extort people.. if you buy Kazaa gold you get NOTHING more then the normal free one... do not pay money!

To find widely spread legal downloads this methot is the best:
search the exact filename on www.fileplanet.com (if you dont know already).
<b>use www.filemirrors.com</b> and enter the filename there.
Rarely you will find less than 10 working and fast mirrors.
