PART 2
After another satisfying game of NS I left the Server. I went on trillian (for those of you who dont know thats a univerisal chat program like MSN, AIM, ICQ etc)
Here is where my life started to turn for the worst.

Guy on Buddy list: CS?

Guy on Buddy list: Wanna play cs?
Me: Dude I havnt played that game in years.
Guy on Buddy list: Pllllease! My friends are too easy comone!
Me: No
Guy on Buddy list: But u used to play Cs, and u were in the really good clan and u ran server so u must still like it.
Me: That was loooong ago before cs got totaly corrupted.

Guy on Buddy list continues to plead with me until i give in. (Stupid me)

Me: Fine, but only for a bit, I have to go to work in the morning.
Guy on Buddy list: Woo! Lets play the AWP map.
Me thinking: Oh. My. God.
Me: There is a reason people call that gun the gaywp ya know. How about a normal map?
Guy on Buddy list: Its not ****, and besides in the the new CS comming soon there will be a police ballistic shield that can block ANY bullet Cool huh? See a shiled that stops everything, see its not a dumb game.
(Me whacks face several times)
Me: Lets get this over with.

(Player 4 replies back to player 3 by flash banging the team 2 times)
Me: Team work people, and stop crying, maybe if u handt been trying to flash the team you would have seen that guy with the knife.
2:HAHAHHAHAH
I kill 3 people with 3 head shots in a row. It was mostly luck but then again, shooting at slow moving Terrorists after months of shooting at fast moving skulks has its advantages)
4:5:6:&7: OMG HACKER! Davis has a head shot hack!!!! *(%*&*($$
I left after that.

I also realized why I dont play cs anymore!
Im gonna have to go play another 5 hours of NS just to wash myself clean of the filth that CS has become.

but maybe they were sarcastic? Cuz if I ever play Cs most ppl just say that stuff for fun, but yeah its tru, nobody talks about teamwork, always "pwned" "h4x!" "noob" "luck" "ffs" "SUYF" etc.

As much as I prefer NS over CS a near infinite amount any day of the week, I'd prefer not to bash it. The fact is that Minh Le is a skilled coder and may even be given credit for popularizing modifying the HL engine.
I find the story funny, and it sounds real enough, but don't make me or another mod come back here in a couple hours to say "Why didn't we catch this flamefest earlier?"

Carry on, but be nice.

I remember back in the betas when it was fun and the VIP was a black guy. But of course once it goes retail, gotta keep the brutha down.
Yea, I got suckered into some awp map after not playing for 2 years. And then promptly killed many with an AK and got kicked for hax0ring.

I agree fully with you there. I played the game for a good part of my early teenaged years. In fact in terms of total hours spent playing a HL mod, i probably played more Cs hours then DoD and NS combined. But that was a while ago.

I guess Im very dissapointed as to how such a great game has "fallen".

Ask anyone who remembers playing the early cs and they will certainly have nothing but postive comments.

Its still a good game but in my opinion as well as many others Im sure, the player database seems to be "lacking" in some areas. All those anti cs posts/comments in past NS forums arnt without reason.

Cs is a great game but I dont like playing it in such a negative atmosphere, and unfortunalty for the great majority thats what it comes down toom in my recent playing expiriences.
Nothing so far comes close in a half life mod in terms of team work in NS. Other mods may say how team work is a must, but you can still get by with just ramboing around. NS is the first game that sticks to what it says.

NS is the first mod for half-life that I've seen that really does require team work. If there is no team work, the team loses within minutes. If neither team has teamwork, the aliens might eventually get one of there multiple gorges to get enough res and actually survive to get to a hive and place it. But by then all the complainers have left and it's just the gorge and maybe one skulk who can't find the Esc key up against ten marines who couldn't comm if they wanted to becuase they all kicked each other out and no one can comm and it is just dumb. And even in TFC where TEAM is in the tittle, teamwork isn't always required. A good spy can almost always capture the flag single-handedly on 2fort. But in NS, team work will always be required.

I only play CS every once in a while, when I've played NS too long and have gotten bored or I'm sick of listening to The.Moose (if you've played with him you'd know what I'm talking about...I'm just **** at him today, but anyway...) I only play it to screw around though, I know a server with a whole bunch of pointless mods, kind of like redphive's been doing lately.

I hope The.Moose burns...

Wow... from the way you made that post I doubt you have played 1.6. The shield does NOT block all shots, you have to be almost perfectly still and crouched facing the person to have a chance of blocking most of their shots, then if you get shot in the peep hole in the middle its like an auto headshot. Yes, CS was fun back in the day of bunnyhopping and accurate pistols, but I still find it quite fun to play. You just need to find the right server. (which is quite hard seeing how most pubs have horrid plugins)

I'm with you there 110%. I loved CS back in the glory days before retail, and I have many fond memories of sweet lans at my university college. It was, back then, a great game, there's no question about it. The combination of going retail and injecting hundreds of thousands of immature people into the CS community though ruined it, and I doubt it will ever recover.
Comparing my initial impressions of CS and NS though, NS has CS beat any day. When I first played CS I never say anything that I didn't really expect. When I first played NS though, I just looked up at that huge hive thinking OH...MY...GOD...this is the HALF LIFE ENGINE!? My experiances in the first week or so of NS were like a dreamworld; I couldn't believe that anyone could do this kind of thing with the HL engine. Thankfully the devs seem committed to never going retail with NS, and I for one am very happy about that.

On a side note, I saw DoD in my local games store yesterday and decided to check out the case. I couldn't believe it when I read in large letters on the box "Valve, the company that developed Counter-Strike, now bring you Day Of Defeat, our latest modification for Half Life". I simply couldn't believe that they were taking credit for CS and DoD.

Well, they did bring us the HL engine, and as long as the educated people know otherwise, who cares if they take credit? Anyway Ive only played Post-Retail cs. Its fun at first, but then it can get real boring. Davis, it's called "playing on the wrong server". I see this over and over. If you get that kind of response, go to a better server or find someone who can reliably recommend a good server. CS is still a good game. You just have to find the right people to play it with. If you joined a NS server with similarly immature remarks, you'd be similarly disgusted.

Well sorta... it's kind of the fact that both teams are under Valves wing so CS team is now absorbed into Valve. Valve is like the borg y'see. So both are one in the same really. It's sort of the same with Blizzard... Blizzard never made Diablo 1/2, but Blizzard North formally Studio Condor (or something like that) made it. It's all a part of the buying out of the small businesses.
